Front desk was helpful and friendly, but the cleaning staff was overwhelmed, we stayed 4 nights and 2 we didn't get any room service. The elevator stopped working on our last day. The only bright spot was it was convenient to all the BW shows. P S

My experience at Holiday Inn Express
The entire stay was good. I liked having breakfast included in the price of the room. All staff was friendly and helpful. The only part that was not good for me was being stuck in the elevator (1 time) with about 10 people in it. The elevator went to the lowest floor and the door would not open. Thank goodness someone was on that bottom floor. We were stuck in there for maybe 15 to 20 minutes. The door had to be pried open. There was no phone for emergencies in the elevator and our cell phones had no signal for us to call the front desk. Again, I am glad there were people on that lowest floor. Otherwise, all was good.

We liked the location as it was safe and we could walk to shows on Broadway. It was nice that they had coffee, tea and apple cider and sometimes cake available in the lobby. The free breakfast was a great asset. Some of the furniture and the mirror were a bit worn but if it knocks $200/night off the price I am fine with this.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the gentleman behind the desks; checked in quickly and we're given a goodie bag of water and snacks. Made it way to our room which was clean and well stocked. Breakfast in the morning was busy and seating was not limited but busy and scarce. The ladies were helpful in finding a place for my family and we're quick at refilling the buffet. A time or two while we stayed there the elevator went down; luckily we were only on the 3rd floor and able to use the stairwell. The only downfall was the additional daily "destination fee" we were charged upon checking out even though upon check in we were told everything was paid for (used Expedia).

The stay was good. The room was to be expected, not huge but big enough for 2 people for a week. The room and bathroom were always well cleaned. The breakfast was decent, some hot options such as eggs and hashbrowns, some of which changed each day, a pancake machine (although was occassionally out of action, a couple of juice options and coffee, bagels and toast (although only half of the toasters worked). The main issue was the lift when it was busy, it was difficult to get down as only 6 to 8 people could go in each lift. We sometimes ended up walking down the 12 flights or went up to go down again. Location was convenient although not overly close to things, a few blocks to the nearest subway stop and probably 10 to 15 minute walk to the middle of Times Square. Overall, it was great for the price.
