Overall, we liked the place and would stay again.
The Good:
- Location is convenient to shopping and transportation. We took a train into NYC and the Maplewood station is only 7 minutes away. Bus stops are within walking distance.
- 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms were great for our family of four
Room for Improvement:
- Check-in process required contacting owner 3 times on the day of to receive security code. We received the code 4 hours after check-in time, which happened to work out for us because we were still en route
- Thermostat is in a lock box and cannot be adjusted. You can contact owner to make adjustments but no one's doing that when waking up in the middle of the night too hot. I would recommend the owner get a smart thermostat, allowing guests to make adjustments while still having control when guests are away.
- TV in the living room is not connected to any cable or streaming service. Luckily, I packed my own streaming device and was able to use that. Also, the TV in the 1st bedroom does not have a remote to control or use it.
- There were not enough towels. There were enough sets of bath and hand towels for 3 people, but we had 4 people. I contacted the owner prior to arrival and did confirm there were towels, but didn't realize there would not be enough. I would have packed towels to bring had I known beforehand. Instead, we needed to purchase another set of towels at Target.
