We walked in and immediately saw a sign asking for respectful quiet, reminding us we are in a neighborhood. I appreciated this. Then there was loud music, bass pumping, coming from the apartment above us. I messaged the host and they said they had a friend staying just for one night and that they'd talk to them. Music continued. I messaged several more times and did not get a response. A couple hours later, I heard back that they would talk to the person. (We could hear by this time, that there were at least 3 people upstairs.) A car pulled up and we heard someone go upstairs, the music went off and the person left. I assumed it was the host. After that happened, we heard people talking and laughing more loudly and someone kept walking to the room directly above us and jumping, moving furniture. By this time it was after 11 PM and I messaged the host more. At midnight, several people went loudly up and down the stairs, walked loudly by our window and finally left. THEN it was quiet and my kids and I were finally able to sleep, though felt a little unsettled by the feeling that these people seemed to be purposely trying to make a lot of noise for us. We decided to cut our visit short and the host wasn't willing to refund any money, though VRBO did force them to. During the message exchanges, the host basically told me that they thought I was being over sensitive, though they were not on sight to hear the worst of it.
