We arrive at the property after the check in time and I realized I didn’t have a code to get in the house (odd!). So I called Louise, she was very friendly but was not expecting us until a day later. She checked and acknowledged the mistake and gave us the code. First, we weren’t thrilled with the street the house is located on, the neighboring homes are not in good condition and it’s a little unsettling. In VERY short distance, there are amazing houses down the road on the river though. The distance from the house to the beach was nice.
The listing says it’s undergoing remodeling, that is not accurate, this is simply an excuse for the condition of the house. It is REALLY outdated and was not clean, at all. Simple (cheap) upgrades can fix so much! A simple mattress cover, new pillows, new bed set and the bedroom is fine. The furniture is from the 80s, at least. Simply changing the curtains could dress the place up a little. The medicine, behind the towel hanging over the cubby, had medicines that expired in 2004….I’m talking SIMPLE fixes would help. A printed sign of instructions with spell check would make things more professional. Erasing the former guests comments from the fridge. I don’t believe the place was cleaned before our arrival. Thankfully we brought our own blanket and pillows that we used. We left a day early because it was not a comfortable, clean place to stay. The property owner informed us she was unreachable the last day of our stay…bad business.
