We stayed here as a family retreat from the heat and noise of the city. We range in ages from adults, teens, tweens, kids, all the way down to a one-and-half-year-old.
The positives:
The property is beautiful and tastefully updated. There is definitely a visual WOW factor as soon as one walks in. The pictures do the property justice! There was plenty of room for our group of 16 to spread out and the kitchen is very nicely appointed. I personally really enjoyed the sauna! The gift basket that was provided was awesome, and we used a lot of what was in there during our stay. There are also a couple of cute local antique stores and cafes that we really enjoyed shopping and eating at.
The negatives:
What was very unfortunate about this property is that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING. It is listed in the amenities when you book as having AC...but when we were sent the instructions for our stay a few days beforehand (far too late to cancel), it states "**PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING** ." This made for a rather uncomfortable stay as it was quite warm during the day and was not cool enough at night for sleeping. We noticed it as soon as we checked in. It was very stuffy and warm in the house...especially up stairs. For the cost per day of this property, they really should provide air conditioning in the summer months...or charge much less. I imagine in the winter this property is amazing. But as it was June, and temps were approaching 90 degrees, the AC situation really cast a bit of a pall on our stay and I would not have booked this property had I known in advance that it didn't have it.
There was also some confusion about the basement area, and ultimately we were told it was not part of our rental space. This too was really disappointing as it was by far the coolest (temp-wise) area of the home.
The other thing to note for anyone staying in this area, is there isn't a proper grocery store within 30 miles. There are two small local stores that have most necessities, but if you are looking for something specific, you will need to plan ahead.
