Beautiful old prison…. Renovated so sympathetically into an amazing boutique hotel …all the staff are lovely and create a very relaxing atmosphere…ideally situated in the centre of Oxford… a 2 minute walk to all shops,bars and entertainment. Already booked to come back..

A very unique and historically interesting building. Parking outside the hotel was valet service and very safe and secure although navigating Oxford was tricky. Only negative was that Oxford as a city was not very dog friendly. The hotel however was very welcoming

The hotel feels somewhat disconnected from its historic surroundings, coming across more as a prison-themed novelty than a true reflection of its past. The faux stone wallpaper, dim lighting, and gimmicky décor dominate, while some of the more original, untouched areas are mostly beyond perspex barriers, making them inaccessible to guests - disappointing for those hoping for a more immersive experience. Ultimately, staying inside offers little more than what’s visible from the public areas outside. Oxford's Malmaison is not a luxury hotel in any sense beyond its aesthetic and price. Service is minimal, the front desk staff are unwelcoming and the room facilities are underwhelming. There are no premium touches you might expect from an upscale hotel—no help with luggage was offered, no spa, no welcome gifts/notes, very limited room service times and options... nothing particularly notable as 'fancy'. If you manage to snag a room at a heavily discounted rate, it could be an interesting stay, perhaps for a business trip. However, for a special occasion, this wouldn't be the ideal choice. On a positive note, the restaurant is good, and the waiting staff are far more pleasant than the reception team. That said, you don’t need to stay at the hotel to dine there, and Oxford has plenty of better and more affordable dining options.

Location was perfect for myself and the wife. We checked in and parked the car outside the hotel I would recommend paying for the valet parking. A couple of minutes walk and we were in the buzz of the city. Lovely Room, Staff were all fantastic and a Good breakfast 5 stars from us and we will be going back

A must for Oxford. Superb Hotels

Room was brilliant - duplex room overlooking the mound. Balcony and firm king size bed. Bath was leaking so we told them about that (these things happen) but the bathroom was huge and well presented. Another themed hotel based on the prison that its built around and as part of. Superb building loaded with characteristics. Friendly staff and just situated a few steps away from the Westgate shopping mall and variety of different restaurants

Lovely accommodation but give breakfast a miss

Room was lovely & bed very comfortable. Service at check-in was great & i got given a prosecco token for 2 for my birthday and barman was lovely. Downside was breakfast with 1 coffee machine that was very slow. When i got to it, it needed emptying so i found someone to help.i then went to chose my coffee & got out of milk message so had to track someone down again. Went up for a second coffee and had to wait as someone waiting for hot chocolate to be replaced. Very limited cold breakfast choice as no plain yoghurt and i was told both mornings by woman serving us don't touch the fruit salad (i have a kiwi allergy). For the price of the stay wouldn't have thought too much trouble to do a fruit portion without? Valet parking used & within less than a 1 minute of leaving car warning came up flat tire. We stopped as soon as we could to find giant screw in front tyre. Haven’t reduced rating on this basis but future residents have a thorough check before you leave.
