This motel should not be available via Hotels.com. 1) they did not have our reservation 2) the noise from pool area literally moved my bed during the night. 3) restaurant closed probably due to holes in roof. All for $88. Ripped off!!
I have traveled in D.R. and my expectations are low. This place is fine, but it is overpriced. Right on the beach, but too dangerous to swim, the pool is reasonably maintained. The AC works, bathroom door closes (many do not), shower water is tepid at best. No safe, no refrigerator, no daily housekeeping. Breakfast is mediocre (scrambled eggs and a roll, no fruit), and I was upcharged for a second cup of coffee, ridiculous. Overall not too clean. In short, just like any cheap hotel except it isn't cheap, I am not going back.
The area is primarily of interest to eco-tourists, the bird-watching is excellent. But it has problems for the visitor: few restaurants, empty and overpriced. Try Duck's Restaurant in (wait for it) Los Patos, it is clean and reliable. No grocery stores, some fruit available from street-vendors. Plantains everywhere, but I did not see a banana in 5 days visiting, strange. I recommend you buy food in Barahona before heading further south.

THIS HOTEL IS CLOSED AND NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM TRAVEL WEBSITES UPON ARRIVAL I FOUND THIS DISAPPOINTING INFORMATION AND THE HOTEL WILL NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS OR NOTIFY YOU THAT THEY HAVE CLOSED!!!
This hotel is a scam!!! A day before reservation they emailed me through Expedia asking me to cancel reservation because they were closing temporarily! They knew my reservation could not be canceled and was non-refundable. I tried to get my refund because this reservation was not canceled by me! The hotel DENIED everything and lied through their teeth about the whole situation. They are stealing people’s money without providing any service at all!!!
When you ask for something they don't have it example a simple Piña Colada first day no alcohol, next day no Cononut cream for it, missing food missing staff etc
Nice and small hotel. Staff is friendly. The only thing that bothered us is that the towels were all dirty and stained. My mother got one that was still damp like it was used and dirty Good thing we brought our own
The location is fabulous. The hotel has such a great potential, the beach should be cleaner, and the lack of hot water is a big problem. The staff were very helpful.
There was only one staff at the hotel, the lady was kind but had no means to have us a guess. There was no water to drink, beers or food. The kitchen was without staff too. The pool was dirty and empty. My experience and that of my friends was terrible. We ended at a hotel near by and lost one full day of vacation. Expidia should have a better way to ensure that facilities are upkeep and fotos are actually resent. I'm still waiting for my refund.
I had an ocean view cabin with a balcony which was peaceful and quiet. They have a restaurant with a great cook and good variety of local seafood. The hotel is close to Los patos and San Rafael which are rivers that end in the sea. The staff was very nice and helpful, they gave us ideas on where to go around there. I didn’t get to use the pool because they’re currently upgrading the water fall and pools but overall if you’re looking for peace this is the place to be.
In short everything was bad. Free breakfast consisted of a coffee with milk, toasted bread of questionable quality, butter and marmalade. All the rest was not included and most of the time not available. The fruit were available just once and eggs twice. Eggs preparation was unprofessional to put it mildly.
The bed was not king, queen at best.
The water in the swimming pools was cloudy and unswimmable.
The restaurant’s menu was mostly unavailable. The bar was not available – we had to bring our own wine to accompany the meals. The deserts were not available.
The water supply was very unreliable and was switched off every now without any prior advice making a stay most inconvenient. The quality of water is very low.
The electricity was off at prolonged periods during the night and sometimes the day time.
The hotel is extremely understaffed, hotel management not available on site.
The staff had a motorbike parking under the guest rooms with the noise of arriving and departing bikes late at night ant early in the morning.
The roof is partly covered with an ugly looking plastic cower presumably to protect it from leaks thus increasing humidity.
Everything is very old, the doors don’t close properly, the maintenance is nonexistent. The bed sheets, mattress etc. are all of a very poor quality and should be replaced.
This hotel doesn’t deserve a 3-star status, is overpriced and publishes false information about itself.
It shouldn't be sold at hotels.com at all!

Nice hotel close the beach
Really nice. The hotel is better than other in the town
This hotel is right on the beautiful beach of Paraiso close to San Raphael, Los Patos, Bahia de Aguilas and all the other area attractions. Less famous than it's neighbor "Pirates of the Carribean" it is a far better value, has a better view and has been extensively renovated. Maria manages the hotel, speaks English and makes sure the guests have everything they need, even going out of the way to help solve any problems with local logistics like transportation and services. Inexpensive and a fine value it is highly recommended as your base for exploration of this fabulous area of the DR.

Nice hotel in front of the beach
the staff was very helpful and kind. They really care about you and response to all your request
If u like wasting your $$ this is the place for u. In dire need of restoration. Pool half empty. Spa empty Water pressure extremely low. Hot water took forever to show up.Room had no furniture. Checkin phone # to call because they have no checkin desk wasn't taking calls. We were the only guests....really sad. Feel sorry for the staff. They were really nice
Casa Bonita Tropical is the highest-priced hotel in the southwest of Dominican Republic, but Hotel SeaBreeze is the best hotel. The owner, Maria Matos, was wonderful and welcoming. Our unit was new and was less than 100 feet from the surf. The furniture is heavy wood, and has the atmosphere of "Swiss Family Robinson" to it. Private balcony and wood shutters open to an amazing, close view of the Caribbean. The sound of the surf all night resulted in the best sleeping of the entire vacation -- THIS IS A BETTER HOTEL THAN OCCIDENTAL EL EMBAJADOR IN SANTO DOMINGO! The fresh snapper was delicious, and the fresh coconut for dessert was perfect. The swimming pools were under refurbishment during our stay, but there is a large adult pool, a large children's pool, and a baby pool, plus an artificial waterfall adjacent to all. The restaurant ambience was very nice. The rooms had ceiling fans and a modern modular shower. The beds were wonderful and extremely comfortable. The hotel is adjacent to the local beachfront park. It's easy to find, and there was no problem with our reservation. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It was pure luck that I found it via Travelocity, and it was the happiest find of our vacation. The owner is from New Jersey, but has a house nearby. She spoke better English than I spoke Spanish. The staff were attentive and similarly wonderful.
Room was too small for two beds. Bar/restaurant close at 9pm and reopen next morning, chef and servers don't get there until 9am, not breakfast until 9:30am
