Nice little home
House is located right next to the river. Very peaceful place with excellent views of the river and mountains. What we liked House was clean. Kitchen has good quality utensils and plenty of plates, glasses, silverware, etc. Nice front porch and couple of sun rooms. Communication with property manager was excellent. Almost real time. Things to be aware of 1. Taller/bigger guests may find the place somewhat uncomfortable. 2. There is well water. So water and house smells of sulphur 3. Short but steep gravel driveway 4. Neighbors have dogs who bark at you. They don't cross the property line so it's not a safety concern.

Fine location, property needs a little love
Overall our stay was fine. The New River Gorge area is a beautiful, relaxing location with lots of options for all levels of adventurers. The property is located across the street from the New River itself. There is river access but the decent is very steep and would benefit from some stairs, natural or manmade. All visitors centers for the park are about a half hour drive which is managable. The house itself is fine though there were a few issues and things worth having a heads up on. 1) The outdoor trash can was full to over flowing when we arrived which I did let the property owners know and while they said some one would be out in a few days no one arrived during our stay which left us no place to put our trash. 2) The neighbors have dogs and one of them just seems to have free reign on the properties nearby so watch for dog poop in the yard as there are no steps to access the path to the front door. 3) It has a steep gravel drive so beware of shifting gravel making getting into the driveway a bit tricky. 4) At the time of our stay there was a large yellow jacket nest in the gutter between house door and the door for the screen porch, so beware especially if you are allergic. 5) Cell service is spotty at best and the internet/wifi kept cutting out making planning and research about the area just as difficult as reaching out to place outside the area. 6) Last it is well water that is heavily sulfured so plan on drinking bottled water and be prepared for the smell.

Senior Trip
We visited New River Gorge for my son's senior trip. He loves to fish so we wanted to stay close to the water. This home was perfect! The river was just across the road with easy access. The house was as described and had everything we needed for a comfortable 5 night stay. The host was wonderful and quickly responded to my questions. We loved our time on the New River!

This was a great property. The house was clean with all the necessary amenities. The location was perfect with easy access to New River Gorge NP, local scenic drives and numerous rock and boulder climbing sites. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend!

Great for short stay at New River Gorge area
We had everything we needed for our 2-night stay at this cottage. Our hosts provided the basics for our family of four and the kitchen was well-stocked with spices, cookware and serving dishes. Felt like we were invited into a person's home. This cottage is on a quiet street and was easily accessible to town amenities and to hiking around the various areas of the New River Gorge National Park.

Perfect cottage by the New River
This cottage was perfect for my family of three. The location next to the river - no traffic. Perfect to enjoy nature and drink coffee from one of the not one but three porches that this cottage offers. Mike the owner was quick to respond. Inside the cabin kitchen is fully equipped for those who enjoy cooking. There were even plenty of spices to choose from in case you don’t bring yours. My daughter enjoyed the loft upstairs - she and all three of us really were sad to leave. First time in West Virginia and we truly enjoyed the cottage and exploring the area.

Wasn't Right for Us
The Good: The owners were available and quickly responded at all times. The house was clean. You are yards from the river on the other side of the street and surrounded by the mountains/ forest. What wasn't right for us and the not-so-good: As a family with a 4 y.o., 2 y.o., and 6 month old, this just wasn't the right fit for us. There were too many things in the house that we had to keep moving around because the 2 y.o. gets her hands on everything and we didn't want anything to break. We actually left after the first night because of this and the fact the some dog was barking aggressively throughout the night making sleep rather difficult (I do not blame the owners for this, but at one point it went on for nearly 2 hours straight). Upon arrival, the house outside of the house was not lit up and it was near pitch black out. I struggled to find the driveway and the tires spun quite a bit at first getting to the parking area. Once parked, you have to walk a slight grass hill to the steps. This was difficult with little ones and luggage and lack of light (we had turned on the porch lights by this time). While the place does have three rooms with beds, there is really only one true bedroom with a door. The bunk beds are on second level once you get atop the stairs and the third room (which seems to be a converted attic/crawl space - tall enough for kids) is accessed on a type of "witches" ladder, which my 2 y.o. couldn't access without help. While the house was very clean, we were overwhelmed by the glade plug-ins. The next morning we were woken up by something running around the house. Turned out to be two friendly dogs who were trying to get into the property. While tagged, no owners were in sight. They played with my kids as we packed up, and were still there when we left. Last thing, the house is within of another property, which is were I think the dogs actually live. It's very close and not what was expected from the pictures on site. Thanks for the opportunity, but it just didn't work for us.

We really enjoyed our stay! The owner, Mike, was attentive and provided good customer service! The house was the perfect size for us and centrally located. We would definitely stay again! Things to know: 1) This house is in a community with houses on either side. We were hoping for a property with privacy and we were surprised to find a neighboring house just feet away. 2) We were not expecting to have to leave the house to enter the screened in porch. 3) The water has a very metallic taste. We brought our Brita pitcher to filter the water which helped and we also purchased bottled water to drink. 4) The outdoor grill is similar to one you would find at a park. There is no lid for the grill. 5) If you continue past the house on army camp road there is a nice beach area on the New River. 6) Not far from the house is the Glade Creek Trail which is 5.6 miles one-way. It is a lovely trail with public bathrooms. Pros: 1) Cell phone service was adequate and internet access was good. 2) There was a gas fireplace in the living room which was nice to add warmth as well as ambiance. 3) The kitchen was well appointed with nice new dishes, glassware, flatware, linens, a spice rack, plenty of pots/pans, measuring cups, and small appliances. 4) The couches were really comfortable and the TV in the living room was a ROKU TV. 5) The bed in the master was very comfortable. All linens were very nice (no holes or tears). It would be nice to have more than one hand towel for the bathroom. 6) The location was remote but had easy access to main roads and is close to Beckley for shopping and dining. 7) The front porch swing was lovely. Areas for Improvement: 1) When my husband and I vacation for a week or more we like to “move in” rather than living out of suitcases. We found that many of the drawers were full of nick knacks/personal belongings. The house would benefit from decluttering to provide more storage for the renter. Also, if you had young children you may need to child proof a bit. There is a lot of glass and ceramic nick knacks around the house. 2) The housekeeping staff left the mop & bucket sitting out in the sun porch and we found dirty cleaning clothes under the kitchen sink. 3) We noticed a musty smell coming from the bathroom vanity. It appeared it might be a minor leak leading to moisture. We alerted Mike and he was going to look into it. 4) The sun porch is a nice space but there was no furniture only a Franklin stove.

Peace and beauty
nestled in the small town of prince this peaceful cabin offered and exceeded my expectations as well as those of my guest friends. The cabin features a full kitchen and nice living room with a very cozy sitting environment. The host keeps a very clean cabin and provides clean towels and wash cloths as well as very nice cookware and dinnerware for use. Right across the street is a little area that can be used for a nice view of the river as well as fishing. Super clean

Great getaway!
Great cozy, clean house right by the river. House is close to everything but still feels like you're getting away from it all. We loved seeing the river in the mornings and having a bbq in the back porch. Michael gave us great recommendations on the area. Highly recommend!

Relaxing fall getaway
Our family spent fall break at this lovely cottage on the river. The home was very clean and comfortable for our family of seven. We enjoyed walks together and meeting friendly neighbors. It felt private and secluded yet only 20 mins from anything we needed in town (groceries, restaurants, etc)

Great location for a mountain vacation
The house was very nice overall. It was perfect for the three of us. If you like hiking, you can walk to a nearly trail. There are also lots of other activities in the area that we took advantage of. The WiFi at the house worked surprisingly well for the houses’s location. We did have an issue with the WiFi, but the management was very responsive and able to resolve the issue the same day.

Great Riverfront Cabin
This was a great place to relax with friends. Checkin details made cabin easy to find with keypad access. Cabin was well equipped, everything we needed, and exactly as listed. The back screened porch was a perfect chill space. Riverside deck provided a relaxing spot and access to the River.

A clean, nicely set-up cabin with a fully equipped kitchen. It is along a calmer stretch of the river with a fairly steep bank. We spent a good deal of time on the front porch enjoying the setting. There is very good river access nearby (day use area at the the end of the road) where there is a sand bar and several sections of rapids upstream.
