The Hotel is pretty new and in a good shape. The pool is very nice. 15 min drive from Puerto Jimenez into coastal Rainforest, absolutely quite, let alone animal noise. It is located next to a wonderful beach, well suited for surfing and walking. There are birds, Lizards, Toads, you hear the howlermonkeys (we did not see them though) and see many beautiful Aras. When you go to town you cross a River where we´ve seen 3 large Crocodiles. We did like Puerto Jimenez. Nothing special there, but nicely layed back and not as touristy as e.g. Monteverde. Good place to explore Corcovado (don´t even need to go there for a day trip, there are other options closer, like Matapalo)
Some things to consider:
- the road to the hotel was really bad, difficult to reach without 4by4
- The Hotel is not as charming as most of the other CR Hotels, which are typically lodges spread out inside a garden or forest.
- Activities booked in the hotel are too expensive, rather book in Puerto Jimenez.
- The breakfast is ok and included, but no buffet. If you want something extra or more (another joice, a pancake, ...) you pay 2$ each.
- The restaurant staff is not unfriendly, but also not very attentive.
- The restaurant is pretty expensive, if you want to have dinner. We did not try.
- If you take a standard room, its pretty small, no wardrobe, nothing to put a suitcase on.
- No fridge in standard room, forces you to eat in Restaurant if you are not mobile
- swimming in ocean is dangerous (currents)
