It was strange to stay in a "hotel" with no front desk and no staff. To be honest, I much prefer a human presence. Yes, a certain amount of information was provided in written form, and there was a contact number to call if you had a question or issue, but I still would have preferred someone to be working in the building.
I was given a room on the third floor which required going up many, many steep steps. I would have preferred a lower room and it didn't seem to me that the rooms on the first and second floors were all occupied (hard to tell) so I wonder why I was given the least convenient room in the entire building (third floor, all the way in the back).
The room was clean but one of the blinds was broken and the air conditioner placement was as far from the bed as possible, making it hot for sleeping even when the A/C was running full blast. The bathroom was clean and functional though very small with no place to put anything. It needs a shelf or two. Towels were adequate, though the inclusion of a beach towel would have been nice.
The coffee service was appreciated but there could be tea pods available as well.
The building is well situated at the northern end of Ocean Grove only a couple blocks off the ocean and very close to Asbury. It was easy to park for free right in front and easy to get around by foot by while I was there. The porches were nice to hang out on.
