Overall we had a wonderful stay at the Trout House. The property was beautiful, the house was clean, communication was excellent, we had plenty of space, plenty to do, and all we needed for our stay. The grown-ups enjoyed learning more about the history of the house and looking at the eclectic artwork; the kids loved all of the fun stuff to do in the lower level.
The one major issue with the stay was the enormous construction project happening right outside the front door of the house. They appeared to be tearing up the whole highway, with several large pieces of equipment. The crew got started at 7:00am every morning of our stay - including holidays and weekends - and worked nonstop until 5:00pm.
Of course this was out of the control of the homeowners. And to be fair, the property manager did warn us a few days prior to the trip so at least we were not surprised when we arrived. But unfortunately, the construction really impacted our overall satisfaction. Instead of natural beauty when we looked out the windows, we saw construction equipment and piles of dirt. We could not spend any time outside enjoying the property during the day because all we heard was drilling and trucks backing up. There were no fish in the stream, no wildlife to be seen, and no way to block out the noise, even while in the house.
It's a bummer, because otherwise this was an amazing property. We would absolutely love to stay again, but only after the construction project is complete.
