Good base for a few days of exploration
Ideal location to discover Arles, La Camargue, Saint Remy, Des Alpilles as well as many other famous and beautiful locations. Only 45 mins from Marseille airport. Hotel based on an industrial estate so don't expect stunning views.

The hotel is in a good location for trips around provence.The staff is kind and the appartment is clean and in good condition. the pool is nice Wifi ia a little weak....We enjoied very much our stay.

Beautiful gardens but moquitos gave us hard time
Beautiful well tended gardens with trees all bearing an amazing range of fruits including figs, almonds, (both just ripe!) plus olives and pears (not quite ready). Friendly very helpful English-speaking staff, great value for money laundry service which was back within 18 hours. Large private well furnished patio areas, and the hotel itself was very quiet and peaceful although there was a lot of noise and traffic with the adjoining Intermarché supermarket although this was really useful to have plus also a Lidl just 200 metres walk away. Mosquitos gave us a pasting though & were difficult to keep out of the rooms; not surprisingly Intermarché & Lidl both offered a good range of repellants and sprays - suggest you go well armed and prepared! Apartment lacked a few things such as scissors, chopping/bread board (the ones there were old and badly stained), bread knife, toaster, and small frying pan. Good location for easy access to Arles, Salon de Provence, Martigues etc. Not much choice for eating out in the town, and the most popular place Chez Marco were curt and off with us when we turned up off-chance and had not booked so book if you want to eat there. Watch out for Pizza Mania takeaway opposite as were were short changed 10 Euros and when challenged the following day were they rude and offensive; pizzas were horrid there anyway, and there are several other better pizza takeaways around the town. Hoi-An and Dok Boua both offer great oriental food and A1 sushi.

Comfortable base of operations for Provence
Standard apartment was light, bright, and comfortable, with lovely outdoor space. It was also quiet and safe. Excellent value. Proprietors were charming and very helpful. Local town had several nice restaurants, but the real plus was a central location for touring Provence, with a location nearby a major highway. Only two minuses - one, the bed was small. Also, the washer/dryer on site took an incredibly long amount of time. Starting at 10 am, by 5 pm we gave up and hung up laundry to finish drying on the line (part of this time was waiting for one other load ahead of us), kind of ruining the day.

Comfortable accommodation.
The hotel is located in an area which is predominantly business oriented with industrial units, garage and supermarkets around. However, once entering into the complex it is welcoming, comfortable with rooms appointed to a good, well conceived standard. WiFi speed is excellent throughout the complex.

Limited choices in St Martin de Crau
The owners speak French only and we were lucky another guest was able to translate when we arrived. The hotel gate is closed at 10 pm and you need to punch in a 5 digit code in order to enter after hours. The bedrooms are next to the entrance and face the path everyone has to take to get to the public areas. A spare bed was steroids the bedroom closet, using up all the space. The living room looks out on a few oleander bushes, behind which there is a noisy highway. the windows open but there is no door, but there are no screens to prevent bugs from getting in. The room service is very limited. If you use a glass or a cup it will not be cleaned by the room service unless you are willing to pay Euro 18 extra. There was wifi in the room, the connection was slow.

Very nice hotel with convenient amenities
This is a family-owned establishment. The owner checked us in and we could see him out doing maintenance throughout our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. The shower is a bit small but we didn't mind it. The kitchenette was very convenient because my husband was sick for this part of our trip so it was really nice to be able to come back and unwind with a quick and easy dinner that we either picked up on the way and brought back with us or cooked in the kitchen from ingredients purchased at the grocery store. The grocery store is right next to the hotel so it's very easy to pick up anything you need for cooking. The internet was fast and reliable. The laundry service was very fairly priced - it cost us the same to have the staff wash our laundry for us at this hotel as it cost for us to do it ourselves at another hotel that we had stayed at on the same trip. I would definitely stay here again. My one complaint is that the curtains in the bedroom were sheer so the room did not get completely dark at night which made it a little difficult for me to fall asleep and also did not provide much privacy. The location is very convenient for exploring the area. Arles is a short drive away and Pont Du Gard is also within an easy drive.

Great stay
We've been staying in this hotel for 7 nights. The service was good, rooms just what we expected with nice patio. Our son loved the swimming pool, not big but after long day was nice to relax. Close to Lidl and another market so you can have a breakfast without an extra cost. Location is great if you want to explore Provance. We would highly recommended and go back there.

Great hotel!!
We loved our stay at the Hotel de la Transhumance. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, and it was so nice to be able to cook our own meals, especially with at least three grocery stores close by (two within walking distance). This hotel only works is you have a car, but if you do, it's a great home base for exploring Provence. We took day trips to Nimes, Les Baux, Pont du Gard, and St. Remy, and we enjoyed the pool on a warm evening. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were sad to have to leave!

Stopped to see Arles on our way to Barcelona. The hotel is beautifully decorated and located very close to Arles. Hosts are lovely and multilingual. Rooms are large suites with patio and kitchen.

Great hotel, odd location
Stayed four nights. Staff very welcoming and helpful. This is a newer hotel designed and built by the owner with the gardens and interior design done by his wife. These are apartments with lounge, dining, full equipped kitchen and separate bedroom. Ours was spacious and bright on the ground floor. The gardens of the hotel are meticulously maintained and quite beautiful. There is plenty of parking on site and a large supermarket just 5 minutes walk away.

Nice apartment style hotel close to many sites
The hotel was great and the staff was very helpful during our stay. The owner speaks very good English having lived in the US. We had a small apartment which allowed us to make our own breakfasts and the private patio was a bonus. The location is great for a number of Provence locations.

The management was gracious and helpful. The location was near exit 11 off the main road between Aix en Provence and Arles. 15 minutes from Arles. 40 minutes from the Camargue. A very well taken care of accommodation. Much like an American apartment hotel. Large rooms, kitchen, all the amenities, a pool , plenty of easy parking. Great Wifi. In a commercial area, but very quiet. Restaurants nearby from fancy to family. David, the host speaks very good English and we couldn't have been more satisfied. Thank you David and staff.

Great Hotel OK location.
The hotel was a great deal with nice patio, kitchenette and room to easily sleep 3 adults. the Intermarche was next door and a plus. Other Amenities were a drive away, but we planned to drive to our destinations anyway. The staff was very helpful. The hotel was a good value for 3 adults.

Exceeded all expectations
We were looking for a hotel where we could visit Arles, les baux, and St Remy. This fitted the bill perfectly. Travelling with a baby the apartment with full kitchen was a great help in making up bottles etc, and the staff could not have been more helpful. A great find, and can fully recommend it.

The owner was very friendly and even took us to our room. the hotel was around a beautiful courtyard and even had a pool. it was great for the kids. it was even next to a grocery store so we stayed in and cooked a dinner in the kitchenette.

Its an apartment/hotel with a kitchen, living and dining area, separate bedroom and patio. The location is excellent for accessing the areas east (Aix) or west (Nimes, Arles) or north (Avignon, Orange). There is a super market for food very close by and a fuel station. It is family owned and they are very friendly and helpful with information. We extended our stay from 7 to 9 days. Laundry services available at fair price. Wifi in rooms, on site secure parking. Highly recommended, excellent value for money.

Pure stress free relaxation
Hotel Residence Transhumance. C’est Magnifique! I booked a self-catering apartment for me and my 17 year old daughter, Fern. We only stayed for 3 nights but I wish I had booked the whole week. It far exceeded my expectations! One word for our apartment, Perfect! Clean, modern, tiled throughout and in perfect condition. I‘d happily go and live there permanently. The apartments are set out as a square of terraced bungalows fronting onto a beautifully maintained, enclosed courtyard garden with fountain and Koi pond. The proprietor speaks excellent English as does his son who also works here. The other staff I met spoke hardly any English but everyone was very friendly and nice and went out of their way to be helpful and patient of my basic pigeon French. They even had a French-English Dictionary on Reception to help me out when needed. Don’t be put off by the name, it’s not a new-age hippy type place. It’s named after the street. Transhumance is a local festival dating back to the medieval celebrating the return of local men at the end of the military campaigning “season”. I disagree with the customer who said it was situated in an industrial estate. There is a mix of houses, a supermarket, car dealer, garage, restaurants, take away, café and a skate park for teens as we found when we went for a walk on our first night. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and won’t hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. I give L’Hotel Residence de la Transhumance an A+ rating.

A little oasis
Planned as a last minute stopover on a long journey from Spain to Germany I chose this hotel based on good internet feedback and a competitive price for a family of 4. I wasn't disappointed. Easy to find, just off the main road but surrounded by a huge wall and a big gate (important when you don't plan to unload the car). My wife was delighted at my choice and raved about the size, cleanliness and appointment of the room. For me the big, comfortable bed was the highlight. The centre of town is a leisurely 10 minute stroll through pleasant streets and don't be afraid of the "cowboy" saloon over the road. We came back from our night in town (we ate at L' Avenue****) and there was a lively group line dancing outside...I wish we'd had the energy to join them. This hotel is a great base for sightseeing Provence and Carmargue and we are sure we'll return for a longer stay.
