My wife and I were here in early February. We love visiting San Diego and had never stayed this close to the beach. Bottom line, we liked it.
First, the downside. Older, small house. Limited kitchen. Some parts are kind of funky….like the shower/tub entry and low doorways. If you are large people, this might not be a good fit.
On the plus side, and there are many, the location is fantastic! Very urban/dense feel (houses packed together….small narrow streets.) Extremely safe feeling and walkable….to the bay and ocean. Far enough from the main thru street that you don’t hear road noise at night. Small shops nearby.
We were there during the atmospheric river, so the ocean area was cold and wet. But I can only imagine how enjoyable it would be in good weather to be only a minute away from watching the surf and sunsets.
There’s also a nice little backyard, which we never got to use due to inclement weather. The bed is comfortable. And the shower water is hot...almost immediately.
The wall heater unit failed, but Josh (the owner) was great and got us some space heaters which really warmed up that little house.
I must tell you that the place really grew on us the longer we stayed (5 days). It’s well worth the price. We would definitely rent again. Thanks Josh, we had a great experience, even if the weather sucked.
