Beautiful property with quirks
The hotel is in a great location and has a fresh, modern vibe. It's beautifully updated and feels very instagram worthy. We enjoyed our lunch on the rooftop and appreciated easy access to the sights of Old Town San Juan. The problem is that the hotel is missing some practical features. For instance, the pool is really just a large above-ground hot tub, but with pool-temp water. There is no proper pool deck. Our bathroom had one electrical outlet which was two-thirds covered by a medicine cabinet, making it impossible to use. We had to use our hair dryer and electric razor in the bedroom. The bathroom fixtures were new but improperly installed; the shower handle fell off each time we turned it on. There was a motion-activated light in the open shelves/closet that turned on throughout the night when we made larger movements. The bathroom was missing hand soap and lotion. And the small desk area lacked a chair, making it impossible to work in the room. If the hotel can work out these types of details it could be a great spot, but all in all, it felt a little off relative to our expectations. Still, a pretty hotel that offers a decent option for those looking to stay in the Old Town.

Nice place but very little privacy
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There is very little privacy in your room. You could clearly hear the conversations of the rooms next to you and of those in the hallway.

Nice property and helpful (and available) front desk with lots of suggestions. The rooftop dining and ground level restaurant are very good as well. All in all, a positive experience - we did upgrade to a suite to get some more views and lighting into the room, which helped immensely.

This place is very loud, has small rooms, is cheaply put together, and is expensive. The pros do not outweigh the cons....at all. I would not recommend this hotel. I also wasn't aware that the locals don't like this hotel. It's relatively new and very loud. There are anti-alma signs up next to the hotel. If I had known that its not local friendly, I would not have booked it. Pros: 1) Bed was comfortable 2) Lobby and rooftop restaurant are excellent (pricey) 3) Location is good 4) Plunge pool is nice Cons: 1) There is 0 sound proofing. We could hear every door and conversation. We even had to call the lobby at midnight to tell them to control the volume down there. We barely slept the entire time we were there. Our room had a door to the next room that did nothing to stop every conversation from passing through. We purchased a white noise machine and still that wasn't enough! 2) If you like to unpack at all, this is not the hotel for you. There are no dressers, closets, or shelves. There are barely any surfaces at all to lay things down on. I ended up using the end table and floor for my things. 3) Unless you get a deluxe room, the rooms are very small. 4) They built windows facing into the building into many of the rooms. The blackout curtains don't work to block the light. 5) They gave wrong information about the beach that cost us time and money. 6) No room clock is weird. 7) Fridge is full of expensive snacks/not usable 8) They never responded to my emails ever

Did a weekend mother/daughter getaway and this hotel’s amenities and location exceeded our expectations. It is recently remodeled older building and feels fresh/hip. Would definitely recommend staying here to friends. Also, staff were kind and friendly like everyone else we encountered in PR.

Excellent hotel! Front desk staff are incredible. Had my wine waiting for me when I came back from outside which is the first time I have ever received VIP benefit with out asking. Only down side is hotel is not soundproof, my room was next to housekeeping office and I can clearly hear every conversation loudly haha but nothing ear plugs couldn’t sort! Thank you so much Alma.

Very nice hotel in Old San Juan.
We really enjoyed the hotel and the young lady at front desk in the evenings is wonderful. But - no one came to service our room even after we asked twice. No o e ever serviced/cleaned the room. In addition both of our key cards failed to work after one use. No big deal to get them replaced but perhaps you can investigate.

I highly recommend Alma, a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Old San Juan. The location is perfect, offering easy access to fantastic shopping, vibrant nightlife, and some of the best dining experiences in the area. The hotel is exceptionally clean, and their restaurant, Andalusia, is a true culinary gem. Alma’s convenient location also makes it easy for Uber pickups while avoiding heavy traffic, and it’s just a quick 10-minute ride to the beaches. A truly exceptional stay!

Alma was very nice. The staff was helpful. We didn’t know about the rooms w no windows though. We got to move w a room with small top windows w natural light was better. Our room did smell a bit musty though. But overall very good & convenient to walk around the Old San Juan area.
