Great Getaway
Great stay, great place, great people. Close enough to town to be accessable, but a bit of a drive. Hill's activities were top notch. Doris cooking was superb. Can't say enough about how well everything was taken care of. Definitely coming back to this one.

Remote beach house
This property is very special -- but it is not for everybody. The house is very comfortable and the location beautiful but very remote and isolated. Doris, the cook and housekeeper, is very accessible and an excellent cook --- she prepares all the meals. However, we did take the golf cart (extra weekly expense) to the pizza bar about 15 minutes away for lunch one day. Because you cannot swim off the beach (too shallow) you must arrange excursions by boat and pick up is at your private dock for snorkeling and diving. The excursions are costly (think several thousand dollars if you like to dive and snorkel).We were a three generation family of 6 including seniors in their 80's. We enjoyed our vacation but getting to San Pedro was arduous and costly for our family.I would highly recommend the property for a 50th birthday or wedding but not for a young family or older couples.

Stayed February 14-21, 2024, with 4 couples – an unforgettable experience!Pam, the property owner, communicated wonderfully throughout, answering all our questions and ensuring everything went smoothly from the San Pedro airport pickup to arriving at the property. We opted for a boat transfer with a store stop on the way, and upon arrival, staff greeted us with fresh drinks and appetizers. Doris even decorated the rooms for Valentine’s Day, adding a special touch!The property is impeccably maintained, and the staff reflects the owners’ dedication. They gave us a tour, including their workspace, which we found fascinating (especially as Midwest folks!).Doris, the chef, was exceptional—accommodating and creative, mixing Belizean cuisine into our meals. She was always prompt, shared local knowledge, and enhanced the experience.We loved using the new golf carts to explore and visit Benito’s, the nearby grocery store. Some of us went inland to explore ruins, see howler monkeys, and enjoy cave tubing—all planned seamlessly from the beach with an excellent guide.A highlight was leaving directly from the pier for snorkeling, including swimming with nurse sharks—unforgettable! Having the entire property to ourselves was peaceful, with only a few beach walkers seen in 8 days.The only con was bugs/sand flies at dusk, likely due to the neighboring property not being cleared, but it’s the tropics.I’d absolutely book again—it truly is paradise. Highly recommend!

Everything we hoped for and exceeded expectations!
Belize had been on our visit list for years and we finally made it happen. The owner, Pamela, was great! Easy to communicate with, timely replies, took care of all our details. Doris, on-site chef and “boss” there on property, was outstanding! This was a wonderful personalized vacation property. The beach was clean every day, homemade food was outstanding, all the staff were very personable and we enjoyed all our conversations learning about life in Belize. Excursions were everything we hoped for, snorkeling, scuba, boating, fishing, kayaks, paddle boards, and reef diving. The owners are also rehabbing an old mining town hotel in Colorado, and we’re looking into visiting there now too. There were two families (8 of us) staying in Belize; would highly recommend visiting Belize and staying here for all your experiences.

The property was beautiful! The pictures on the listing were pretty accurate. Very clean! Loved the art so much that I bought some. Pool was perfect temperature. Best place to stay in San Pedro!
We were referred to this property by other friends who had stayed here in the past. They said there was no where better to stay and they were correct! The entire reservation and check-in process was seamless which made our arrival very pain-free. They handled the airfare to San Pedro and transportation to and from the airport which was a huge help. The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating. The chef, Doris, welcomed us with a buffet and some amazing coconut drinks which started our trip off on the right note. Throughout the week the food was amazing and we were never hungry. The property is a little bit of a drive from town, so would highly recommend renting the golf carts as it would be near impossible to get to town otherwise. I cannot say enough great things about the property and staff. If you are looking for somewhere to stay on San Pedro this is the place to book!

Our UNBELIZEABLE Vacation
We had the most unbelizeable vacation staying at Casa de Playa Solmates. It was exactly as advertised but even more amazing than we imagined. The property was immaculate and the scenery absolutely breathtaking. The only complaint we have is that the days flew by way too fast, and we were not ready to come home. From snorkeling, fishing, soccer, volleyball, kayaking, paddleboarding, visiting Secret Beach, going to the mainland to go cave tubing and to explore the Mayan ruins, going into town for dinner at the Truck Stop, going to the chicken drop, having a massage at the end of the dock and exploring the surrounding areas to unbelievably delicious meals made by Doris and Lily. What a treat it was for me (mom) to not have to worry about cooking which allowed me to fully relax and unwind. They spoiled us each day with homemade meals that were absolutely fabulous. One of our most favorite parts of our trip to Belize were the people we met. Doris, Lily, Barney, Sebastian, Emilio, Walter, Hill....they work hard and go above and beyond every single day to make sure that we were having the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation. They are absolutely amazing, and we will cherish all the memories we made with them. It was definitely hard to say goodbye. Thank you to Pam and Bob for creating a hidden gem for others to enjoy. We will never forget our time spent there and look forward to one day when we have the opportunity to return.

A Gem in Belize!
Casa de Playa Solmates is perfect in every way! It is about 20-30 minutes away from San Pedro, Secret Beach, and Margaritaville/Tranquility Bay by golf cart, so centrally located for the most part. Even though those places are great to visit, you couldn’t ask for a better place to stay than Solmates. Quiet, secluded, relaxing and yet with all the amenities one needs. Beautiful beach expertly cared for with hammocks both in the water and on the beach. Refreshing infinity pool. Fishing from the pier. Small grocery stores minutes away. In D Wild nearby if you want a beverage or some food away from the property. Solmates even has their own gift shop with locally made items. Doris and her boys are the most kind and helpful people and we definitely enjoyed getting to know them! Hill was also wonderful, from picking us up at the airport, arranging our diving excursions with excellent guides, and sadly taking us back to the airport. Solmates just has everything! It is the Gem of Belize!

Our trip started off with missed and delayed flights! When i tell you if it wasnt for Ms Pam being so calm and accommodating I would have cried! Pam and Bob have truly created a place that all you need to do is pack your bags! After walking in the doors i forgot how crazy my last two days were. The house and the view are stunning! Possibilities are endless of things to do or just hang by the pool and relax! People arent lying about the staff they make you feel like family! I will say Ms Doris is a gem not only is her cooking out of this world she would give you the shirt off her back. She is a wonderful woman especially since she put up with my father lol! Everything was as is in the description. Doris and her team are amazing! We took traveled from one end of the island to the other. We needed to be rescued as the golf carts do not like puddles! Fantastic property and staff
I can’t say enough about the quality of this property the staff. Dorris, Hill, Barney and the rest of the staff made this an one of the best vacations our group has ever enjoyed. Wow !!!! SolMates is a one of kind. The owners have thought of every wish you could want. First they have an amazing leader. Doris, not only can she cook she will help you with anything you should need. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were the highlights of the trip. She is an amazing person. Barney is at your becoming call, if need anything just ask. The crew keeps the grounds very clean. Hill picks you at the airport, provides you with an endless amount of excursions. We went bar hopping and to the secret by boat with Jimmy and Bull. Great trip. One day was fishing and beach Bbq with George and Mario, again great trip. The boat picks you up at the house dock. We spent so many hours in the pool. We were planning our next trip before we even left. We will be back sooner rather than later.

DONT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!!
If your credit card hasn’t already caught fire booking this place, you might want to get on it!! This house is perfect. We felt more than at home here from the very first minute. Doris is the most amazing BOSS LADY and this place wouldn’t be what it is without her. Pamela and Bob Taylor have put together the most wonderful crew and are truly some of the most generous and caring hosts we have ever come across. There is so much more to this place than just a vacation destination. It is a true trip of a lifetime experience. We loved every single minute. Don’t miss the mainland cave tubbing! Wow!!! What an amazing place. We loved everything about our stay in Belize. Doris and Ash were amazing. We enjoyed tons of excursions but really enjoyed snorkeling and fishing with our beach BBQ. Wonderful Experience
We have a group of 5 with ages ranging from 38-62 that usually does at least 2 trips a year. Spots include places like Cabo, USVI, Hawaii, etc…. Belize is now on the “must return” list. Although we thoroughly enjoyed our day trips and adventures, it was Doris who put this spot over the top. To say that she puts love into everything she does is an understatement. Food is all made from scratch down to the dough and even the pasta. The dishes we’re creative at times and down home simple yet fantastic for others. The owners Pam and Bob live in the house next door and made sure we knew to reach out if we needed anything. Pam is who you’ll communicate with during and post reservation. Both of them are folks that you would want to invite into your home for dinner and drinks. Great spot and even greater people running everything. Can’t wait to go back.

Awesome vacation
This was one of the nicest VRBO's I have ever seen or stayed in. The owners were very welcoming and helpful throughout, the cook/chef was incredible and always available, and the grounds were impeccable, even when weather was less than ideal. The owners have obviously taken great pains to ensure all is done perfectly and safely, and were always able to guide us to the next tour, event or restaurant. No expense was spared on making the home a modern, well equipped rental property, and we had a spectacular time spending a week here. Absolutely be back.
