Perfect place to escape the world
This house was amazing for our needs. We had our family with grandparents. The bottom portion is a single bedroom and two bedrooms up top. These have separate entries so they give some independence to your trip. Being right on the water with so much privacy was incredible, but this comes at the price of a long golf cart ride to and from town. Expect at least a 30 minute ride from the airport and stop for supplies on your way there after you arrive. It’s further than you expect and you will be exhausted! Don’t be tempted to shop at the Quick Basket Store - it’s the closest option, but they are quick to grab your wallet and passport if you walk out the door with it on the counter. That will almost ruin a trip. The kitchen comes well equipped between the two units and there’s a working grill at the bottom. The roof top access is AMAZING at night so if you are into incredible sky views bring a telescope. It will be worth it. For food super close, the restaurant Stax changed my world with their pulled pork quesadillas, of all things, and I’ve been trying to replicate that recipe since we got home. The management staff is wonderful and super accommodating. We’ve stayed at another property they manage before and I have full trust that they will be great no matter what.

Wonderful first stay in Belize
We had a great time at Casa Conch. It was a very comfortable house and as described on its page and pictures. The staff from Pelican Reef was extremely helpful in recommending and setting up excellent outings and Ester was a highly responsive host during the week in person and by WhatsApp. The home had everything we needed. The dock was fantastic with fishing, relaxing and being picked up directly for our adventures. It was about a 25 min mostly unpaved ride to town, but we knew that before booking and it did not stop us from going most days. Only a few restaurants within 10 minutes, but lots of great choices within 20 min and we were able to cook our fish several nights. We felt safe in the location as well. We would certainly recommend.

2 individual units gives some privacy
Great property, easy communication and assistance with booking excursions. This property was in a quiet area farther from town so if you want your privacy this is the location for you. As Americans, listing said it includes an ice maker but there were just 2 ice trays in each freezer, the guys had some problems with his but they got over it once we bought a bag of ice from town. Bring bug spray as the mosquitos come out as soon as that sun goes down. Mangroves are everywhere. The snorkeling at the dock was superb for just being in the "back yard". We saw eels, fish, rays, crabs, snails and sharks. Esther, Adrian and Charlie (I think) were all very helpful in keeping the grounds cleaned up and getting us stuff that we needed (tours, etc). Book the snorkeling trip. The Lamanai trip is ok but you spend more time traveling than sight seeing. Go to Secret Beach for a day it is worth it for the fun and something different. As far as restaurants I would recommend Someplace South, Toast, Drink & Drive, Blue Water Grill and Panchayat Dolce Bakery. Belize is VERY expensive so be prepared. The house itself was very nice. It is about a 20 minute drive from town. If you want the peace and quiet then it definitely offers that. We used Rocks Golf Rental and they were VERY helpful in meeting us at the airport and then picked us up at the house to help us with all of our luggage when we were leaving to go home. The privacy, the dock and the stars were the best.

Trip with my adult children
The house was great. Very well equipped and spacious. We loved the dock. Comfortable seating inside and out. The beds were good beautiful ensuite bathrooms. The service was fantastic. Ester from the property manager was available all the time. She booked our golf cart, shuttle, fishing and snorkeling, made dinner reservations offered great advice. We had a small maintenance issue that we reported - it wasn’t urgent but someone was there and fixed it with an hour. Milton was on the grounds daily keeping the yard perfect. It was really great to be picked up from our dock on our fishing and snorkelling excursions and the swimming off the dock was good. Lots of fish to see under the dock. As noted the only downside is that it is a 40 minute golf cart ride from town and portions of the road are a bit rugged- though they seem to be making progress with concrete roads in and near town and they do maintain the gravel roads. We were back and forth to town many times - it was just a little hard on the older backs in the group! Overall I think I would go back there for the serenity, privacy, ocean breeze - that outshines the bumpy ride. Depends what you want - for more of a party scene maybe you want to be closer to town or slightly north towards Secret Beach. Did I mention is was quiet - birdsong no dogs and roosters.

Overcoming obstacles
The location of the house was exactly what we were wanting. However, the house came with some issues that really had the possibility of completely ruining the trip. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Ester and the Pelican Reef team. They did not hesitate to step up and address the issue and all of our concerns. Ester responded promptly and consistently when we needed her.

It was good deal for the price.
Overall this property is extremely nice. I absolutely loved the pier deck / cabana. The house was clean and AC worked well. The online listing does not indicate that the first floor and the second floor are completely separate they're not connected and need to be accessed from outside stairways. I had a problem getting into the house when I arrived and the property manager had gone home for the day. Luckily I was able to find Two Gentlemen at Pelican Reef offices who were able to assist. The neighborhood is nice but know that it is a four and a half mile golf cart ride from San pedro. The house was very clean and the pier/ deck dock was worth the money alone. I would stay here again.

Unfortunately Disappointed
The location is beautiful, however, we had a terrible thing happen. The green double kayak that was provided for our use had a crack in it, and we were stranded out in the water for 2 hours holding on to a sunken kayak. We were given a child size life preserver which did not allow my husband to float. It was a horrible experience that I am still replaying in my head. Luckily after 2 hrs of screaming to passing boats, someone came to our rescue. We reached out to the property management company the next morning (too upset that evening) and told them we didn't want anyone else to use the kayak because we were lucky to be alive and that might not be the case for the next users. It felt very transactional and one of the property maintenance men told me he was concerned because his boss was making him go out in it to test it. My husband lost his cell phone and we asked the property management company to contact the owner and asked for them to pay for the replacement. VRBO also tried. They have refused! It is definitely a very bumpy ride to town which was okay for us, but if you would be uncomfortable on a long bumpy ride, I would skip it. Unlike any other VRBO that we have stayed in, this location was managed by a property management firm and it felt that way. It was all very transactional. The kitchen was understocked with both dishes and basic cooking supplies. Most mornings the property management crew was there early and woke us up. I would look elsewhere for your stay.

Check one off the bucket list.
Ester and the rest of the Pelican staff were amazing and always willing to go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable! The house was great and has all of the basics you need for an enjoyable vacation. Drinking water is provided which is a bonus. Great snorkeling right off and underneath the dock. Iguanas, geckos, and hermit crabs frequent the property. If you want a quiet, remote, yet safe, location this rental is for you. However, the roads are horrible which deterred us from driving around too much. Extreme golf cart driving for sure!

We loved our stay. The house was clean and well built. The outdoor areas were fabulous. We enjoyed massages on the end of the dock under the thatched roof!! We had cocktails on the roof overlooking the ocean and took many rides to town on the golf cart. There were many amazing places to eat and scuba diving was the highlight! Pelican Reef Management Company has it down. They are responsive and so helpful. We gave out whole trip a 10 out of 10.

Great place to stay
The location is a distance from town, but we knew that when booking. And there are a few restaurants that aren't too far from the property (by golf cart). Loves the private pier and watching the ocean creatures, including stingrays playing on a couple occasions. Ester is very helpful and quick to respond to questions or to help book activities or make dinner reservations. The guys who come daily to maintain the exterior, including the beach area were wonderful! They patiently answered questions about the island, provided recommendations about where to eat and even brought us some fresh coconuts. I would recommend staying here!

Beautiful Rental
This property is great and the management team was very helpful. We really enjoyed the pier. At night, you can walk it with a flashlight and see lots of lobsters and crabs. In the day, you can snorkel under it to see a variety of tropical fish. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The only slight downside is that it's a bit of a golf cart ride from the main town and that the two floors are not connected from inside the rental, but those were both very minor issues. I would definitely stay here again.

Ester and Carlos were amazing! So helpful, kind and reliable. I felt like i had friends looking out for us & had nothing to fear. Perfect recommendations & prompt responses to messages. I cant imaging a more perfect rental. The cabana at the end of the dock rivaled the snorkel tour! The snorkel & chill cruise was incredible and perfectly named. I never thought id be dancing with strangers on a catamaran in the Caribbean... but there i was! I cant wait to go back. Or move there. It was such a welcoming and kind town! San Pedro is a gem. We also felt so very safe the whole time. Thank you Ester, Carlos & San Pedro!

Great Southside stay
Now being in San Pedro multiple times I'd say the Southside is better and closer to town. (I noticed the other reviews complaining) it takes a bit of a driver wherever you stay unless you're directly in town. Our rental with Pelican reef rental and the casa conch house was top notch and a great stay. Weather you you're looking to relax or adventure this is a prime spot! Can't rate it higher or I would! We had a superb time at Casa Conch. The house had plenty of space and the dock was great for snorkeling and relaxing. We brought some yard games and enjoyed the location as much as we could. Ester was so helpful and pleasant to work with—she went above and beyond. She really made the stay super easy and relaxing:)

We recommend Casa Conch!
Casa Conch is a beautiful home, solid (most homes in the area are made of cement), with tile floor extending all throughout the house. We didn't find a broom, but housekeeping came midweek. The washer and dryer are upstairs. (The door to the main floor laundry was locked - we could only see it through the window.) Pelican Reef supplied a pouch of laundry soap (enough for our family of 6 for a week), a bottle of dish soap, water dispenser, & five gallon water jugs. The bathrooms don’t have fans but didn’t get stinky. Each kitchen and bedroom has a very nice air conditioner. The island shares a power grid, but the house is quite comfy with the A/C set around 24 to 27. Stay out of the ocean when it’s dark. We saw a crocodile (down the road), some lizards, geckos, iguanas, snowy egrets, & many more birds we’d never seen before. Rays swam by the dock near dusk. Pelicans & other birds often roosted on the solid pier (dock). A little sign at the beginning of the dock says it’s private property. Some guys cruising by in a boat were selling fresh lobster. As expected, food is expensive on the island for anything that’s not produced locally (esp. dairy). Be careful of eggs. Fruit stands along the road have better prices but close by 5:00. Be sure you throw stinky things or bug-attracting things away in the garbage cans out by the road. We liked: A bakery just a block or two west of Central Park. A "Walk Mart" near the airport. The artisans’ market a little ways from Central Park. Download WhatsApp before you go. This is how you'll communicate with Ester. The “beach” is a yard full of sand, with a wall at the ocean side. Someone comes to rake the sand smooth each morning, and also uses a smoker around the outside to control bugs. The alleged Mayan site, about ⅛ mile down the road, is completely an ‘enter at your own risk’ kind of area. Stagnant, very orange, & sometimes smelly water is a good home for mosquitoes & snakes. Not worth trying to see it. We loved the island and how casual everything is there. Although, that induced a bit of stress when traveling by ferry to meet our excursion on the mainland. Check out local vendors for excursions once you're there. We easily scheduled a snorkeling trip for the next morning, plus they picked us up at our dock on the way to Hol Chan Marine reserve! Download WhatsApp before you go. This is how you'll communicate with Ester. She is amazing and responded quickly when we contacted her.

Wonderful piece of paradise
This is a great place for families or large groups. It is very remote and quiet outside the hustle and bustle of San Pedro. The property manager Ester was fantastic and made our stay a breeze. This house is about a 25 minute golf cart ride down a sometimes bumpy road, but it is worth it! There is great snorkeling of the end of the dock, but look out for the moray eel. Ester set us up with a couple of fishing trips with Go Fish Belize and we had a blast. This is my happy place.
