The cabin is great. The host? Not so much. Sloppy and unprofessional.
On the morning of our second day, we received an unexpected message offering an additional night at a 20% discount. We accepted, and the host responded with agreement. About 13 hours later, the host leaves another short message we don’t see until the following morning; the host had informed us that we can’t stay the extra night, offers a simple apology, and offers no explanation. We had, within those 13 hours, already made plans to extend our vacation the additional day.
We’re not sure what the host’s strategy was, besides a guess that the host was trying to secure the highest bid for the lingering Monday night. We can only guess the host flipped it for the full rate, instead of the 20% discount.
Besides the quick sorry, there was no offer of compensation for complicating the last leg of our vacation with an unnecessary offer-and-then-withdrawal to extend our stay. After calling the host out for giving no explanation, the one offered was something about a cleaning crew scheduling conflict?
We had originally planned to rebook this cabin next year, but given the situation we will be looking elsewhere.
