This cabin is well-built with a good set-up, convenient location, pretty clean, and good quality furniture/amenities. The steep driveway is something to get used to, but a lack of serious maintenance made our experience MUCH less than it could have been with this property.
Two LARGE (3') potholes made the VERY steep driveway difficult to traverse and caused gravel to accumulate making it impossible to maintain the speed necessary to safely get up to the top of the driveway.
The 40+ popped/broken tiles inside the house were a constant annoyance. No grout caused the popped tiles and must be corrected before renting!
Recommend removing the carpet in the den and on the stairs. Still had a slight urine smell from previous pets and was somewhat sticky from cleaning.
A completely collapsed retaining wall behind the house made walking to the fire pit and hot tub hazardous.
I spent two hours defrosting the completely iced up mini-fridge so that my daughter could store her food downstairs - defrosting should be done one or two times a year as a matter of course.
The lack of a bear proof trash can contributed to past renters throwing trash behind the now collapsed retaining wall and likely contributed to the bear visit each morning from the fire pit to the carport onto the deck, on top of the cars and back into the woods (exciting to watch but concerning!). We stacked our trash in the laundry room sink until we called to have it picked up - which was done quickly (great service for that!). The first day, I had been in the carport just minutes before the bear came into the carport. A warning on the fridge would be a good safety measure.
There was a large piece of broken glass in the entertainment center - a danger to our pets and small children. Anyone dusting the cabinet should have noticed that 1/4 of the glass was missing.
Small things - like broken blinds in the living room and laundry room, a broken electrical outlet cover on the carport, and missing TV remote are things that I might expect. But, no one responded to my e-mail concerning even these small things. The last review mentioned some of these things, but I was already committed and past refund date. I e-mailed the rep a week before our stay to see if repairs had been made with no response. To be fair, broken stairs had been fixed since the last review.
We really enjoyed this visit with our entire family and pets, but the maintenance issues were impossible to overlook.
