I booked this home 9 months before our stay. During the booking process I sent a message to the host (with no response) expressing our family's love for Topsail and switching houses this year specifically for use of the elevator, as many in our party are aging and one is legally disabled. We also knew we would be bringing an infant on our trip this year. The host called me Thursday before our stay on Saturday. I was unable to answer the phone, so returned his call Friday as we were traveling to the island. He proceeded to tell me the elevator was not working and there may be an issue with the front door. I expressed how upset I was that we gave up our oceanfront house we've rented for years to stay in this one with the elevator only to discover on our way there it was broken. The host suggested we keep those that had difficulty walking on the lowest sleeping level. Not only was this condescending, but ridiculous given the kitchen is on the fourth floor. Thankfully a repairman was able to come out near the end of our stay and (mostly) repair the elevator, at least enough to use it for carrying luggage. It only cost me an entire day of my vacation to stay in the house while the repairs were completed. The repairman also informed me they had known about the issue for an entire month prior. When the elevator repairman was leaving, someone else was in the garage of the property to fix the lock on the front door. I was not told he would be there. Garage was full of junk-mattresses,
