First, let me state that the home was beautiful and in a nice neighborhood. Additionally, there were several times before and during the rental period we reached out to the owner and they were very prompt in their response. There were a couple of problems though.
First there was a serious miscommuniation about the availability of the swimming pool. The fact that the listing showed a heated pool was very exciting for the family and we were looking forward to using it. Unfortunately, it was not available and could not be made available during our visit. While I understand that the listed stated that the heat for the pool was paid for by the owner between Memorial Day and Labor day, there were instructions for "paying" for the heat outside of that window. When we booked this house, we considered other comparable houses for that timeframe that were several hundred dollars less per day without a pool. We believe there should be compensation to us for this total lack of a pool.
The other item (through no direct fault of the owner) was a major water leak that occurred in the master bedroom. We had to put out pans in the family room along with many towels to catch the water that flooded downstairs. We did all we could to ensure there was no additional damage caused to the house, including shutting off the main while we were out. As a result, we did not have availability of the master bath for most of our stay. Even so, we were not offered any compensation
