WARNING: The neighbors let their dogs roam around outside. I know this must be usual behavior because the house instructions said to drive slowly because the neighbors have children and dogs. Leashed and fenced-in dogs don't need that warning. So, I attempted to go for a morning walk, and a black lab and another mixed breed very aggressively charged me. If I had turn and run, which is what I'm sure what my children would have done, I have no doubt they would have attacked me. Before you try to defend the dogs or discredit me, I have been around dogs my entire life (my mother trains dogs), and I know what an attack looks and sounds like. They had quickly turned into a pack since they were together. The only reason they didn't attack me is because I know how to handle myself around dogs and the owner of the black lab (the dangerous one) heard him barking and called him. I was a hysterical mess. The dog owner said he's "very protective" and kept asking me if I lived there. I am telling you all of this as a warning to protect any future guests and especially any children. It was very upsetting and stressful, and I am so very thankful I went out without my kids.
For the house, it was great. My kids loved playing in the snow and creek with me watching constantly for the dogs, of course. We had plenty of room and the location is great. The listing says three bedrooms (maybe just a typo), but it's two. The house is really cute and quirky and was just what we were looking for. The dog scare really shook me up, but it wouldn't be fair to give this house a low rating. I would not be able to sleep at night if I didn't give everyone the warning. The good news is that the downtown area is perfect for walking, if you want to go for a walk. Fish Creek is also a fun little hike.
