I would overall rate our stay a 3.5 if I could. Nothing was horrible, but a few things could improve to make things better for the next group. Although it did say there was a gravel driveway, more communication that the driveway could be difficult to pull into would have been appreciated. We had to put on chains in the dark, so that we could get up the first part of the driveway that was covered in ice. Also, there were steps made of snow to get to the outdoor wooden staircase, but then the wooden steps were covered in ice too. We ended up chipping away the ice on the steps so that it was possible to safely enter the property. (Snow and ice have an inherent danger involved, but we did have a serious injury regarding the "snow" steps) When we got to the unlit front door on our first night, the door was unlocked and ajar, so we did have to inspect the place for safety prior to allowing our children in. A few smaller things we noticed, such as a shotgunned beer can that was tossed outside the snow, or not all of the remotes having batteries in them. The cleaner that was used in the cabin left an odd/off-putting smell, but it either faded or we got used to it throughout the trip. We loved the area, had a great time overall, but I would look for a different place to stay next time. A few improvements could easily be made to make this place a solid 4.
