We loved staying in this beautiful retreat. We had a Koala right outside our window and it was the perfect way to spend our first two nights in Australia after a long flight. We got to have a private sanctuary tour and also a night tour of the zoo. Mostly everyone was very friendly too. We had breakfast in the upstairs restaurant one of the days and they offered many options to choose from. It's also very easy to get into Sydney's main harbour by taking the ferry. The rooms are nice and spacious and have amazing views. We would absolutely stay again.

We were a little concerned about being outside the CBD however the ferry from the Retreat was a quick good option. The property is amazing. The people there are incredibly helpful . The Retreat tour was amazing. We got to see all the animals there and in the zoo that we didn’t see while traveling. We booked a koala view room and were delighted to see a koala at various times during the day and evening. The onsite restaurant is very good. Only negative was the service was very slow. Our waiter gave us free dessert without us asking because he realize we had sat for a while. The good part of that is we had extra time to see the incredible view of Sydney and the opera house!!

Animal view room.

We stayed just 1 night but got to the hotel about 5 hrs prior to check in time. We couldn't go to the room then but were assigned a room and were able to go on a guided tour of the zoo before it opened and then spend our extra time at the zoo (admission included in price). We were able to leave our luggage with the staff and they took it to our room once it was ready. The breakfast is fantastic and so is the view from the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We were able to see a couple animals from our room close to dusk and then in the early morning. The best one being the Koala named Matteo, who came to a tree that was right outside our room. Even though the price is high, i was able to use one of my hotels.com $100 gift card that i got from credit card points. So the final.cost was good considering everything that was included (zoo access, tour, breakfast, parking and animal view). Dinner at the restaurant is pricey but there are dining options that are just a short drive from the hotel. The surrounding area is very safe, quiet and beautiful. Wish we had more time in our trip since we would have spent more time at the zoo to see everything there.

An amazing and unforgettable experience!

It was AMAZING! Getting to stay beside of a kola's favorite tree was a once in a lifetime experience. Enjoyed the tour of the zoo before it opened, spend most of the day there, and went back for the after hours tour and it was was a highlight of my visit to the beautiful country of Australia!
Great zoo!
Night tour of zoo after closing.
Great zoo!
From the sliding glass door of my hotel room window - wish I could share what they sound like!

Incredible property, wonderful staff, tours of the zoo and sanctuary are great. A unique and beautiful as well as restful way to stay in Sydney. The ferry at the zoo is a convenient way to get directly to Sydney proper. Would stay again.

Truly a beautiful experience... Highly recommend it. The included tour was such an unforgettable experience to get closer with some of the animals and learn their names and histories. I would very much encourage you to also take the after hours tour which was so worth it as an add-on. Room was comfortable, quiet, well maintained, and had a great view of a koala. I loved that I could break up my walking at the zoo over 2 days, even though I had checked out already! Amazing view of the city from Me-Gal and the lounge area. Thank you to all the staff.

Awesome resort

Views are amazing! Room was very comfortable. We had an issue with the air conditioning but after talking with reception, it was just user error. They were very nice in walking us through it. I pad in room has all of the retreat/room information. Many lighting options throughout the room. Tours in the retreat and zoo were very good and I highly recommend them. Our after-hours zoo tour got cut short by a storm that quickly came in but was very good up until then!

I booked an animal view room however we could not see any animals from our room. There were 3 fenced sections and each has 4 rooms in it and each section has only 1 koala. So we were no able to see any animals from the room. When i asked one of the rangers about the animal, she said that 1 koala is places between 4-5 rooms. This basically means if you are lucky enough for a koala to sit in one of the trees in front of your rooms, you’ll see it otherwise you will miss out. Very disappointed at the animal view room. The only thing good about paying so much is that all proceeds go towards the animals
