This house was amazing!! It was like we had an entire hotel to ourselves. The villa accommodated me, my spouse, and 8 of our friends. It has everything that you need and you canā€™t beat the view. We loved the sunsets every day. Arturo was so helpful! He literally helped us with everything. You can walk to Geckos and many other places! We also enjoyed hemingways. He scheduled massages for us, best thing ever. We also went ziplining, rode atvs, and went on the lazy lizard. We rented a golf cart on the last day. Also, BOOK the chef! Even if itā€™s for one dinner. She did our anniversary dinner and it was delicious.

Absolute fantastic. Room for everyone and more. Actually had 3 women cooking same time in large kitchen...More than enough dishes . Wonderful pool grandkids really enjoyed and everyone enjoyed boogie boarding in ocean( first time for grandkids). Arturo could not have been any more responsive to our ? and so helpful with all our needs. Would definitely come back..

The property was gorgeous! The rooms had comfortable beds and their own bathrooms which was great for our group of friends traveling together. Arturo was the house manager and was incredibly helpful well before our trip and throughout. He helped make recommendations and arrangements. The house had a fully stocked kitchen and two large refrigerators upstairs plus smaller kitchenettes downstairs (I believe two). The pool was perfect sized with plenty of outdoor seating and activities. The house is so nice that it was easy to want to stay there but there is a lot to explore in town, so I recommend getting out and about!

Fabulous Family Vacation

Our family LOVED staying at Villa Potrero. The house layout was perfect for our large family of 18. The house is updated and clean. The veranda was an ideal place to watch the sun rise and set or to just have morning coffee and listen to the ocean. Good location for walking to restaurants and the property is on a nice sandy beach. The pool and pool toys available to the kids was a hit. The large back yard was a perfect place for the kids to play. Arturo, the house manager, was extremely helpful in all ways! He gave us useful information, arranged transportation for excursions and answered any questions we had. He is a gem!!! Our family gave this vacation a 10 out of 10! Thank you for a memorable experience.

Overall our stay here was great. 14 of us went there to celebrate turning 70. The upstairs area of the house (with 4 bedrooms and all of the living spaces) was really wonderful. We loved using the large kitchen for meals and sitting outside on the beautiful porch area in the evenings for sunsets. The downstairs area (3 bedrooms, 2 baths) was not as nice. The rooms were a bit darker and not as upgraded as those upstairs. Several of the bulbs were out in the room and it was difficult to see what was in the closet! This was reported to Arturo, the house manager but was never remedied during our stay. Arturo was usually very helpful and responsive with most of our needs.The meals we had prepared for us were excellent and enjoyed by all, especially for our birthday celebration dinner! Concerns:The main issue for us was that there was construction going on next door. It was on the other side of the wall of the upstairs bedrooms. Very loud construction started around 7 AM most days and did not make for a relaxing atmosphere. Construction dust would fly around. The property doesn't really have much control over that but if we had known about it, we would have made a different choice. It did impact our enjoyment of this house.ATV--one of them was not safe to drive; this was reported and taken off of our bill. They took it for repair.Overall a beautiful place with a few issues to consider.

Perfect House for Large Family Trip

We traveled with our 20-something kids and their partners - 13 total in our group. The house and grounds were perfect - plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms, spacious and varied common areas (where people could be together or find some quiet areas), a well-stocked kitchen (and big bbq), outside game tables, a pool with pool toys, and of course right on the beach with kayaks, SUPs, boogie boards, etc. We had a blast. Arturo, the concierge, helped with rental cars, airport transportation, all activities, and recommendations pre-trip and during the trip. Housekeeping was available throughout. The neighborhood is great. Are there glitzier houses for rent? Maybe. But this one was perfect - a 10/10 experience for us.

We knew nothing about this area before booking but fell in love at first site. The home was immaculate and well cared for. The onsite property managers were wonderful, responsive immediately and so helpful. The combination of pool and beach was perfect. We walked the beach to dinners and rented golf carts to explore further. Couldnā€™t have been better.

Slice of paradise

This home and location is a true gem on the beaches of Potrero - the upstairs with 4 lovely rooms each with a private bath was perfect for the adults in our group. The lower level was just the right set up for the 6 younger people in our group (ages 17-22). The pool was awesome for when we needed some shade or time away from the ocean. We walked the beach every day loved getting to the restaurants in town that way. Arturo and the rest of the team at the house were so great and available to help us in anything we needed. Highly recommend this home and hope we are able to return!

We rented this beautiful home with a group of friends. Convenient location to small market and restaurants. Costa Rica Bucket List Friends Trip

Oh where do I even Begin..... Arturo, Martin, Poco (dog)!!!! We loved them all! They were there on a dime anytime you needed anything, including Poco (who meet us for breakfast down the street :-)) Arturo booked our catamaran and was very helpful when the catamaran people messed up our reservation...I reached out to Arturo he answered immediately and they jumped into action once they heard Arturo :-) I am in awe over the property, the kind people who came to clean up for us, the owner.....We will be back and I would stay no other place!!!!! This is a great house right on the beach with great boogie boarding right out front. There were 10 of us ranging in ages from 10-80 years old. There was plenty of room. The house is well laid out and stocked with everything we needed. Communication was easy. The owner and property manager were very responsive. In all a 5-star experience.

Wonderful Xmas Holiday

Our family of 14 found the villa to be perfect. Plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and places to gather. There were two dining tables, one indoors and another outdoors, that accommodated all of us. Trip of a Lifetime

Our stay at the Villa was incredible. There were 10 of us celebrating our fatherā€™s 70th birthday and was the perfect place. Very safe and clean. It felt like our very own private resort. ā€¢ Location is a beautiful beach view and in the town of Portrero. Expect daily walks on a beautiful beach and the sound of the ocean crashing every day is meditative. ā€¢ Villa is very clean and has housekeeping come in daily (Yuri) who is absolutely wonderful. The beds are comfortable and all linens are clean. ā€¢ The great room of the house is perfect for big families ā€“ we fully utilized the kitchen and every room upstairs has a view of the sunsets and ocean. The dishwasher is a bit wonky and could be fixed or replaced. Also the great roomā€™s air conditioning/ fan system is quite weak. Each bedroom has itā€™s own air conditioner and fan which is amazing, but the great room/ main living room/ kitchen area of the villa should get checked out because the fan and air conditioners are not very effective. ā€¢ The rooms downstairs open up to the main level and steps away from the ocean, so you donā€™t feel like you are lower level or basement. The bathrooms are much smaller downstairs and definitely dated and could use a refresh. ā€¢ The pool could use an update but we used it daily and is aesthetically beautiful. ā€¢ Arturo and Martine were very helpful and responded quickly to our every need. ā€¢ There is construction going on right beside us so that was loud at times

Family Birthday Celebration

We had a group from 8 months to 7oā€™s. We did have a lot of rain but was still a wonderful time! Arturo, Martine and Mari were great to work with! The house was kept super clean and any issues were immediately addressed! Arturo arranged a big dinner reservation, an excursion to Diamante, and was super helpful with road conditions and routes to get around. We would love to come back again!! Also great recommendation for Food!

Our Family Retreat

There are not enough superlatives to describe this home. The pictures are accurate, so you can see what it looks like, it's on the beach, it has a great pool. But what you can't see is Arturo, who is helpful beyond words, Martin and Benito who take care of the kayaks, paddle boards, golf carts and grounds and most especially, Mary who was our house mother. She cooked our breakfast and cleaned up after us, but most importantly, she knew us. She noticed on the first day, which child liked pancakes and which preferred rice and beans. She put my tea water on before I even got up, and once she alerted me to the fact that the baby was crying (the monitor didn't indicate that.) The house is fun, there are sometimes cows on the beach, we walked to Hemingways and to town, and to church. We drove the golf carts all over the place. We made it our home and we were sad to leave. Thanks so much.

Pura Vida

We brought our family of 17 to celebrate my 70th birthday. Villa Potrero was perfect in every way. Arturo and the rest of the staff were so friendly and easy to work with. We brought in a chef for one night (Kattya), and had a wonderful meal. We were able to do a family picture on the grounds and beach,(Paul the photographer was great). These were all set up by Arturo. Loved running around to town on the golf carts. Recommend renting them. Our sunsets were gorgeous! Every one of our family had an amazing time and would definitely stay again - besides Paco the house dog misses us already - he likes house treats. Our stay was for two weeks and was not long enough!!!

Great family stay

Our stay at the villa was perfect for our family of 17 + 2 others that joined us during the day. The pool was a huge hit and having the beach right outside the gate was amazing. Because of some recent storms the ocean was a bit cloudy and maybe a bit rougher than usual but we still enjoyed jumping the waves. It was hard to take out the boards and kayaks. Arturo, Martine, and Julianna were very helpful and responded quickly to our every need. We hired Kattya as chef for 2 nights dinner and she and her staff made our celebration very special and delicious! They were very helpful in suppling an estimate for our dinner which was very helpful because they wanted to be paid in cash. The house needs to be updated a little (ex- the dishwasher does not work and needs to be replaced. We washed a lot of dishes). I would definitely stay here again and our family had a wonderful time!

Family Vacay

We had the most wonderful family trip to Villa Potrero! From making the initial reservation to leaving the property - everything was seamless. We had a family of 14 (all age ranges) and this house worked perfectly for us. Arturo was an amazing house manager and with the help of Marteen, Benedito, Judy and Aaron, we were taken care of perfectly. This house is situated on a perfect part of the beach with the most beautiful view of the ocean from a balcony I did not want to leave. Town is a very short distance away. We rented a golf cart for the week, which was perfect. Judy kept the house spotless and made delicious breakfasts, Marteen and Benedito took care of putting out all the beach toys and chairs out every day, Aaron and his assistant prepared 3 delicious dinners for us, and Arturo handled transfers, excursions and all needs of the house. We love Villa Potrero. Full disclosure - the only thing that was a minor annoyance - a house is being built next door to the property which was a bit nosy at times but did not ruin our Pura Vida ! I highly recommend this property.

Nice reality break.

Overall a very nice place to get together and relax with our friends. The on-site staff were helpful and very friendly. The house itself is laid out fairly well for a group of people such as ours. It could use a bit of maintenance though. Nothing major, just a lot of little things like non-functional blinds, sticking/ non-latching room and cabinet doors, etc. Also slightly disappointing was that there were only two functional kayaks, a single and a double. There are several there in the rack but we were told that the others were all broken. We did have a group dinner with their private Chef one night. It was a very fun night for sure but unfortunately none of the entrees were enjoyed. The chef and her staff were wonderfully nice and helpful but all of the main dishes were overcooked and mostly not eaten. The sides and desserts were magnificent though. If you decide to try this, confirm pricing beforehand. We were charged for a larger group than we had according to their pricing sheet and there was a facilities charge added on that wasn't disclosed. Not a huge additional amount of money but being that it was not upfront, one person ended up paying everything that was additional. This is meant to be constructive criticism only, we really did have a great time in Costa Rica and this house played a big part in that. Especially the outdoor areas. The pool area was a huge hit.

Family getaway!!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! My family of 8, 23 yrs to 65 years loved our time in Costa Rica! The house is beautiful and immaculate!! The location, yard and beach are breathtaking!! We all went for a daily sunset swim in the ocean! Arturo was great at helping to plan adventures and keeping the house and yard secure and beautiful!
