This property is in an idyllic setting, but the home itself is in need of upkeep. First of all, the listing says “entire home” (I always filter for that), but you are NOT in fact renting the entire home. There is another flat upstairs that allows you to hear everyone’s footfalls and voices. This was very disappointing to us. Also, while the lower level does sleep six, there are only six coffee mugs and slightly more glasses, meaning the dishwasher has to be run every day. This is in conflict with the island’s desire to conserve water. The house was musty and the showers very small. There was no can opener, and the only corkscrew was a small piece on the bottle opener. However, this all being said, the outdoor amenities are wonderful (except there’s no handle on the inside of the sauna door, which seems dangerous), and you have two beautiful decks to enjoy right on the water. One afternoon, a black bear came strolling along the beach at low tide! The firepit could use a stair or two to get in and out, but it provided us with a lovely relaxing way to enjoy our evenings. A quick walk to Chesterman Beach is as advertised, and that was also a wonderful way to spend the day.
