Quaint "mother inlaw" cottage. Location for us was perfect without a binder full of rules to follow. Check in process superb. I stay at BNBs because I want the uniqueness, the charm and to support people who offer their homes up for travelers.
I have stayed in roughly 30 BNBs in the last 10 years. Only 2, have left me leaving early and both were from VRBO and this was #2.
I dont have unreasonable expectations but do expect some follow up to an email since that is the only communication link you have. This cottage advertised sleeps 3, I inquired, they said they have an air mattress. I searched hi and low, did not want to bother them unless necessary. No air mattress found or email replied to. Went an bought my own. Woke up morning 1 and had a "family" of cockroaches running from kitchen to living area along the walls. No email reply to this.
Advertised a washer and dryer but at this point i had emailed 3x with no reply and contacted VRBO only to be told that I need to call the owner.
Sorry we are day 2 into our 3 day stay. If they are not replying to emails or monitoring them, the only call I made was to book a hotel and left without staying for night 3. I can be ignored in person at a hotel for the same amount of $. I dont wish any ill will towards this owner. I only hope they learn from this and make the next persons experience a little better through better communication.
