We booked this cottage for our family’s annual beach getaway, and weren’t disappointed. The location is great, off a tiny gravel side street and close to restaurants and shops and of course the beach. The house is spacious, comfortable and well-decorated. Note that this is an OLD HOUSE. When we arrived there was a deep musty smell that concerned us, but we were able to air it out quickly with air fresheners and candles. The doors don’t all close flush (as other guests have noted) and there’s some general wear and tear , mainly on the screened-in porch. None of this bothered us — except the musty smell, which was only temporary— but if you’re looking for a super modern place rather than quaint charm then this probably isn’t the best property for you. It’s also in a very natural area , so if you don’t like bugs you might also want to think twice- esp if you’re visiting in the heart of summer like we did. The pool was amazing, especially since we visited during the hottest month and sometimes it was too hot for even the beach. The house is walkable to a small strip of shops restaurants and ice cream stands , as well as a beautiful fishing pier. It’s accessible to all the Tybee beaches , so if you’re in the mood for quiet, busy, or bustling beaches you’re not too far from any of those options.
