We stayed at this house a couple weeks ago. It worked very well for our large group with varying ages (from an infant to adults). It's a short, easy walk from the house to public beach access. The kitchen is fairly well-stocked as far as utensils, pots, pans. The hot tub badly needed cleaning (brown water) toward the beginning of our week, and Vacasa was very responsive and sent someone to clean it the day after I called. It would have been helpful to have information about trash pick up. This is the first house we've rented with a third-party property manager, so we are used to having to put out the trash bins during the week for collection. I had called Vacasa to find out about garbage pick up, but never received a response, so I had the bins sitting out on the street for several days, not wanting to miss pick up. We later found out that someone from Vacasa comes to set the bins out and take them back in. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time. Our major complaint is regarding the street parking in front of the house. We had several cars parked out in front, at an angle, for the week. Toward the end of the week, the Chikaming Township Police gave us two $50 parking tickets for two of the cars parked in front. The cars were ticketed because they allegedly weren't pulled in off the street far enough. Needless to say, this was a very unpleasant surprise, as there isn't anything to indicate that you will or may get ticketed if a police officer decides your vehicle is sticking out too far, nor was this mentioned in any of the check-in information for the house. Plus, the road is in horrible condition, and there is no clear delineation between what constitutes the actual street and what constitutes the space for parking in front of the house. An owner of one of the ticketed vehicles went in to the police station to get more information about the tickets and was met with very smug attitudes and responses. Perhaps ticketing for this is a new phenomenon on Berrien Street, but if not, we would have appreciated a warning about this from the owners in the check-in information.
