To check in, i had to remind the owner, as they didn't send the instructions. We arrived to the strong scent of disinfectant in the room; surprising, they certainly didn't use it on the bathroom as it was quite dirty. There was a helpful sign warning us that the water is unsafe to drink and saying water was provided- but there was none, they forgot it. The internet password was wrong, a major issue as we did not have phones that work in the USA. Forget the outdoor spa, its filthy and obviously hasn't been used in years, by anyone. The coquil frogs keep you awake all night. That was just the beginning.
The next day, only the second time i used the key, it snapped off in the door lock. Probably due to years of being weakened in the sticky locks in this unbelieveably humid place. Luckily i was able to extract the broken key, but now we can't lock the room. We had to go to town to get internet to talk to the owner, who started out un-helpful and then went the rip you off route.
I have the messages to prove it- at first they said they had to go get the spare key; then that they couldn't come out yet. Amazingly, the spare key then evaporated, replaced by an unbelieveable demand for $200 ! To get a key cut? Who are you kidding? I refused. Faced with a room that was unsecure and terrible anyway , and an owner whom i obviously couldn't trust, we found another much nicer place and left immediatley. Don't trust these people and its a dump anyway.
