The barn is well equipped with a kitchenette (microwave, hotplate, cutting tools, sink, etc). I didn't find the heaters on the first night so I was freezing, but I found it the second night and was warm.
Amber greeted me upon arrival and told me a bit about the pets, and they left fresh duck eggs. Delicious.
It was still a bit far of a drive to get to Anza Borrego Desert Park. An hour or so. This location might be best suited for a family or a couple. Just feels eerie for a single woman.
At one point, I went to leave and the gate code wouldn't work. It was early in the morning and I drove back up to the barn to get internet since I didn't have phone service. I couldn't find a number to reach them so I tried knocking at the front house but it was still early (before 7am). I ended up driving to the gate and stepping over a dip in the barbed wire to punch the code from the outside in order to leave. All worked out and the gate was fixed by the time I left the following day.
