It was a great getaway. Perfect for recharging with peace and quiet of the woods and coziness of the propane fire place (I did have to call and have them light the pilot for me) they responded quickly and were there in 20 minutes.
Everything about this stay was 5-star--great area, nice quaint place--except for 2 small points--the bedding, though did not smell dirty, had some hair on the sheets), and the cabin is considerably darker than the photo presents...very little natural light comes in. But those are simply FYIs for pickier travelers. I loved the place and would come back for sure.
Pictures are deceiving from what you see on listing cottage is very dark poor lighting, living room furniture is stained not very clean at all. First morning there while making breakfast the smoke detector randomly goes off , continuously while we manage to stop it temporarily within moment or so it goes off again unable to silence it. I Called VACASA representative to inform them of the situation and was told someone local would call to troubleshoot and come out this was Wednesday morning, Friday morning I receive a text asking if I would like someone to come out. Really no Show no Call until FridayâŠJOKE !What happens if it were a situation the renter wasnât able to Manage? I see it as Very Poor Service.Cookware for those who cook was old non Teflon was just that non Teflon, no spices , scissors, foil, saran wrapping. Not even a pad of paper or pencil. Ordinarily property owners provide a guest services page outlining things to do instructions on trash removal, etc leaving a little personal touch when welcoming you to their rental, we did not find anything like that I found the little red cottage to be very disappointing over all. Would not recommend or return to this rental property.M.Sargent
I absolutely loved my stay at the Red Cottage and it is my favorite place that I've stayed while visiting Wilmington. Peaceful, plenty roomy, less than 10 minutes to town and even closer to the lake. I have Celiac so have to bring items like a toaster to avoid cross-contamination but the kitchen has everything you need for your stay. The team was super responsive even before my stay. Highly recommend and look forward to my next visit!
Check in process was good but do you really need a 10 digit access code for the deadbolt? When we entered there was a strange odor. We thought it was the mini-split, but even opening wind didn't help so we ended upbo to the local waows
Bed is on a slant and way too uncomfortable to sleep and needs replacement asap. Furniture not clean. Bug spray used was overwhelming to breathe. The kitchen was ok but used grill as preface. Itâs a rustic cabin and like other post keep in mind its age. My biggest issue was the bed as I could not get a good night sleep for two weeks. The location was excellent.
We enjoyed enjoyed everything about our stay. The cabin was cozy - the kind of place we could easily relax in when we werenât out exploring or hiking. We look forward to returning!
We were very disappointed that the fireplace was out of commission. The pictures are very misleading, showing several pictures of a roaring fireplace. After reading older reviews it seems to have been out of service since September of last year. When we contacted Vacassa about it, all they kept saying was that it was no longer listed as an amenity. I'm sorry but when you show pictures of it working, people expect it to be working when booking this home. Also, the white fabric couch was pretty dirty - we put a bed sheet over it when sitting there. Great location though and at an affordable price. Could use a cutting board and a sharp knife for cooking. Wifi was in and out the whole time, hard to use phone/computer.
The cabin is cozy and sweet- we have a dog and small family and wanted to ski at Mt Snow. Cabin is short 20 minute drive to ski. Super cute town of Wilmington just a few minutes away. Go to Dots or Alpen Glow! Shaws grocery 2 minutes away. House has Pottery Barn vibes. Decent sized kitchen sitting and dining area. 2Bedroom 2 bath. This is not a house for a large crew but for a family getaway it was perfect. Street is quiet and residential. Neighbors seem really friendly. We would love to come back to rent in summer as well to see the lake right across the street.Bring your own coffee press or colombe if youâre a coffee snob - the little cafes were closed on Sunday!
The house was really nice. I loved how remote it seemed and the snow was exactly what we wanted. It would have been nice to know at booking that the fireplace was not working since that was one feature we did really want, so we were really bummed to find out it didnât work upon arrival. We wished that there was some sort of property guide as to how to work the heaters and the expectations on check out. Maybe a guide as to what to do or where to eat. In most of the other places we stay at there is a visitor guide or a house manual. Overall, we love Vermont and the cabin was just what we wanted for our quick family reset.
The main bedroom is 10 feet from the main road BUT the road is pretty quite. The beautiful gas fire place doesn't work which was a big disappointment since that is what caught my eye and was part of the reason we picked this place. The cottage is perfect for a couples get away. The furniture color is white, so you do see a lot of stains, however it was very comfy to sit on. Overall, it was a very nice little cottage. From looking at it from the outside, you wouldn't imagine that it was so cute on the inside. It's starting to get cold so the mice have come in, there was droppings on the kitchen table, night stand and on the floor. We made sure to rewas any dinnerware before using.
Too dark, furniture needs to be cleaned, inadequate kitchen supplies, inadequate lighting. Bed is VERY SAGGY. Windows in bedroom donât open.
Bathrooms are nice and were clean.
Disappointing overall.
This is a cute place and the area has a lot to offer
Would have been better without the house mouse, stained linens and same cobwebs mentioned in an earlier review. One of the bathrooms doors doesnât work properly making it very hard to open/shut
With a few small fixes it could be worth the price
Would not recommend white couches for a place that allows pets and kids in a country setting
That being said, itâs a quaint cabin
A friend and I stayed at this location for a few days in the autumn. Everything was as listed and it was perfect for our getaway. I would highly recommend this place for anyone I know looking for a quiet and quaint place to stay!
We enjoyed Little Red very much. It was just what we needed. It was quiet and peaceful. The house was clean and comfortable. The white upholstery had some minor stains. There were some cobwebs at the very tippy top of the gas fireplace. Looks like a tough spot to clean! We stayed for a week and observed that it might have been nice to have a small microwave to reheat food. It might also have been nice to have an outside rubbish bin- being there a week we generated some trash.
The dining room table was great. We used one end to set up some puzzles and still had space!
The bed was comfortable with a plush topper that added lots of cushion. We had plenty of towels and the linens were very nice. There was a nice yard with a picnic table and a grill. Even though the lake is nearby, the access to it is not.
Iâm forever overjoyed with the way people transform small spaces and this cabin is on point! I never even knew the lake was right behind the place! How my dog and I enjoyed our daily walks along the lake road. The lake is a paddlers paradise. Most days I was the only one out there. It IS cabin living so youâll have some occasional hard water experiences and the fyi g insects are hatching now so they like to visit. Gratefully my dog loves to eat them. Enjoy.! We loved it and will be back for certain!
