The house is truly wonderful, thoughtfully appointed and extremely comfortable. Its location in Woodstock is almost ideal: set back from the busy main road, with a big back lawn facing woods, yet an easy walk to everything you might need, including a nature preserve. Judy graciously supplied some items I requested. CAVEATS: The nearby Station Bar’s live music is not limited to weekends and random occasions as I was led to believe but rather, “almost every night of the week” as the bar’s website proclaims and as I experienced for hours every evening. Because the stream was bone dry due to drought — my greatest disappointment — there was no “flowing brook” sound to mitigate the music, or to enjoy. (Immediately after booking, I wrote to ask if the stream was active saying “I’m counting on it” and was told “I’ll check”. When no one got back to me, I assumed all was well; that assumption cost me. Once there, I decided to make the best of it.) If these concerns are important to you, best to do your homework before booking.
