Beautiful, peaceful outlook from our room across to Bamburgh Castle and the sea.
A very comfortable, homely atmosphere despite the size of the site.
Generous breakfast.
Would love to stay here again.
One night stopover on way up North. Had a room overlooking fields with little noise from the A1. Choice of different thickness pillows suited me well. Huge breakfast! Only negatives are low pressure in shower and what look like ritz crackers down the side of the bed. Would stay again.
Staff excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable, lovely view over farmland. Only downside was the shower which had very little pressure so was a bit disappointing as the bathroom was spotless. Lovely breakfast in the morning.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Staff very friendly and service very good. Rooms a bit tired. A few marks on the carpet. Easy access being just off the A1
We were incredibly disappointed when we arrived to this “4 ⭐️ Hotel” which is actually a maximum 2 star Motel on the side of the A1 right next to a 24/7 petrol station and an HGV stop.
We have booked a room for an overnight stay on Hotels.com - who refused to publish my review as it wasn’t a 5⭐️ one as all of the others - which by the way I can not understand. This is false advertising at its best.
All of the pictures on Hotels.com are displaying a hotel in a lovely rural setting, overlooking at fields with Bamburgh Castle at the background but instead we have found ourselves on the side of one of the UK’s busiest highways with the added petrol station traffic, EV chargers and all the lorries on top.
After a quick inspection of our room which was dated, cramped and filled with cobwebs we decided not to stay and handed the keys back to the reception staff who was very pleasant and understanding.
I would like to warn others who are looking for a country escape in the beautiful Northumberland area, not to book at Purdy Lodge because they will be truly disappointed.
However, for travellers looking for a quick night rest this might do. Unfortunately this wasn’t our case so we headed back home after a quick stroll around the castle which almost made the 6.5 hour round trip worth it 😁
Overnight stay with grandkids and two dogs. Service brilliant staff were rushed off their feet but mega friendly and helpful. Bed way too soft, work up with stiff back!
But overall great little stop over.

So disappointed that we didn’t even stay
We were extremely disappointed as soon as we arrived to the accommodation.
We didn’t expect to stay at an HGV stop right next to the A1 and a petrol station.
The pictures of the hotel was falsely advertising a nice tranquil setting overlooking at fields.
The interior was very dated, it just didn’t feel clean so we didn’t actually stay.
I understand that this place might appeal to a traveller who’s on the road but we were really disappointed as we were expecting a tucked away little b&b based on the reviews and images.
Great stay for a short break. Rooms are fine for what you need and the breakfast is good. Location makes it an ideal base, especially for Bamburgh and Seahouses.
Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.
Solo parent travelling with 9 year old in a twin room.
Excellent value stay with good food on site, comfy rooms and bathrooms with toiletries and proper big towels, nice outlook from the room, and cheerful friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
Small but comfortable room, no noise considering how close to the A1 we are.
Food was lovely.
We have 2 young children and the only downside was the amount of dog poo in the grassed area while we were running off some energy.
Staff is friendly, place is clean and view from room window is nice, but the mattresses are bouncy, the shower is super low pressure (water barely coming out), and there was noise from a boiler or something, Including a dripping sound, all night…
