The hotel itself was lovely. We found that the restaurant listed in the booking was actually only for breakfast and was closed the day we came. There is major construction going on nearby. The staff however made the stay worth it. They were able to hired a taxi for us and made recommendation where to eat. Please be aware that there are at least 2 flights of stairs that you will need to climb.

We stayed here one night prior to leaving for the airport the next morning. Its a good and safe option for this, and its very close to the ferry terminal. Despite stories of Belize City being dangerous, the area around The Great House Inn is safe, even at night. There are a couple restaurant options very close by. Rooms are large, and have an old British feel to them, though not very modern. I would stay here again if it was for a night.

The only negative was all the construction in the area, which is not the hotels fault. Our room was very comfortable, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There are a couple of things to be aware of. The restaurant on the first floor only serves breakfast. However, there are several dinning options within walking distance. The other thing to consider, is if you have mobility issues as I do, there is no elevator, and all bedrooms require going up stairs. The stairs are steep. We also really enjoyed the hotel pool a great deal. It was clean and refreshing after a day of walking.

They renovated their rooms and have extremely comfy beds!!! It's a classic from Belize I highly recommend. The only thing is they dont have an elevator so be mindful of bags and stairs.

This is a great little property! It’s clean and rooms are as advertised. The location is walkable to the oceanfront and several shops. They had security onsite as well. My only complaint is the breakfast for continental was very expensive per person and consisted of two pastry varieties, bread. One type of cereal and one bowl of fruit. Staff were friendly.

Our stay at the great house inn was nice. The history of the house is interesting, with that said, it is an old structure and was adequate stay for the type of place it is. The room was very spacious with needed amenities. Small well kept pool and lounging area. Breakfast can be bought if it was not paid for included in the stay, but the continental breakfast is lackluster. The order options seemed better for cheaper. There is currently construction across the street of a new hotel so it can be noisy during the day. Not much in the area immediately around the hotel, but there are some restaurants within walking distance, and the water taxi ports are also in walking distance.

Great House was a Great Find!

The hotel was wonderful and they staff was very helpful with our day excursions. The staff at the main desk went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. When we come back to Belize, we’ll stay here for sure!

Great New Year's Eve stay

One night (New Years Eve) in Belize City, prior to return to the US. Staff was great, room had been newly-renovated and was very comfortable. Nice restaurants within walking distance.

Check in was smooth and the front desk staff was very helpful. The property is 5 -7 min walk to the water taxi terminal. We had arranged a pick up from the airport via the hotel that was a huge benefit. A few restaurants close by which was a plus and we felt safe walking at night. Our room was on 3rd floor and perfect for our stay. A bottle of water and coffee was provided. Will stay here again if we need to spend a night or two in Belize city.
