Staff were very nice and friendly, and the staff property was generally nice and clean. Our only complaint is that rooms are stated to be soundproof but we were given an adjoining room and woken up at 2am by noisy neighbours (who weren’t making excess noise but we could hear nevertheless)

Staff on reception and in breakfast room were polite and friendly. Location is good, easy walking distance to city centre shops and restaurants. Bed was comfy and room nicely decorated. We had to move rooms at first because we were situated right behind the lifts and they were VERY noisy. I've stayed in lots of hotel rooms near to lifts before and although can hear them slightly in other places the lifts in this hotel are really too noisy. The receptionist moved us to the opposite side away from the guest lift but we then realised that was next to the service lift, it wasn't quite as noisy and not used as frequently so that was ok but despite being the otherside of the hotel from the main lifts we could still hear them in our room although not enough to bother us. I would stay here again but would remember to ask for a room away from lifts. We did not receive our expedia VIP perks but rarely do.

We stayed here for the cricket at Edgbaston and it was very convenient. The hotel was excellent - check in was fab, the room a really good size, such a good location for everything on Broad Street as well as getting a taxi to and from the ground. Definitely recommend this hotel - everyting was set up for convenience and making your stay easy.

Nice room but rude staff, noisy and no room serice
This hotel’s good points are sadly outweighed by the bad. I’ll start with the good, the rooms are spacious and clean with good facilities and a very comfortable bed. The location is excellent for the Utility Arena and surrounding area. Most staff (excluding “Dave” the night receptionist (more on that later) were friendly and helpful. We didn’t take breakfast so cannot comment on that. I thought the lobby was nice and spacious and we were treated to a welcome drink as we were in town to see Texas. Now for the bad. Firstly on returning to the hotel we were prevented from entering by a male member of staff (probably “Dave”) until we gave our names and room numbers. He was pretty rude and I have never experienced this in any hotel anywhere in the world. Secondly, there was not 24 hour room service as advertised. When I called reception to request a pizza and cokes we were told “no room service tonight.” When I pointed out we were not advised of this at check in, Dave was very blunt and unapologetic; it was clear he was irritated. The next issue was the lack of soundproofing which meant the thudding baseline of the bar opposite kept us awake all night despite being on the thirteenth floor. We didn’t get back ourselves until 2am so this bar must have been open until 5am. We tried putting the TV on to drown out the noise and had some trouble getting it to work. We couldn’t get a signal so we made the mistake of calling reception again only to get a second round of poor customer ser

Fantastically located hotel just a 5 min walk from the Utilita Arena which was the main reason for our stay. Easy 20 min walk to Bullring shopping centre and a further 5 mins to Grand Central/Birmingham New Street train station. Room service menu was competitively priced although we didn't use it on this occasion, The bar had very poor choices for draught beer drinkers, only Campden on tap. Lots of local bars though so not an issue for us. Rooms were very comfortable, Happy with the price as such a good location for us. Loads of local club's, bars, restaurants, entertainment venues etc within 5 mins walk of hotel. Main shopping area just 15 to 20 mins walk away. Some lovely canal walks within 5 mins. Perfect location if visiting Utilita Arena.
