The home had a great layout for our family needs, and we really enjoyed our stay, however, the maintenance and cleaning of the home needs serious changes. When we arrived, it was after a very hard rain that lasted about 30-40 minutes. The basement floor, about 9 feet surrounding the fireplace, was squishy wet. We contacted the owner and she sent her maintenance man to inspect and get the fireplace pilot lights lit. From the stains on the carpet and rug topper you could tell it was not the 1st time it had flooded. The carpet in the basement was filthy everywhere, not just the flooded areas. The owner also sent their cleaning lady with a carpet cleaner to suck up some of the water in the carpet and leave a dehumidifier (at our request) to help with the moisture and smell. The entire time, the basement suite smelled awful of mold and mildew. Upon our arrival, there were still towels in the dryer and the bathroom that my husband and I used was NOT CLEAN. There were hair balls in the corner behind the garbage can, obvious the floors had not been cleaned. The sinks were just wiped out, apparent that a cleaner was not used. The day we were leaving, we discovered the garbage disposal had quit working. While there, we typically hand washed the few dishes we had used and didn't run the dishwasher till our last night after a big dinner. We opened it to unload the morning we were leaving and it had not cleaned the dishes at all. It had run as we had all heard it "washing" for about an hour, but it didn't clean. The screen in the screen door on the front was loose from the door frame. We also had to purchase kitchen garbage bags and paper towels as there was only ONE of each of those items with no additional supplies anywhere. For what turned out to be costly per night with all the additional fees, having to go to the store to purchase those items did NOT sit well with us. I would highly recommend the owners make serious changes in their maintenance and cleaning services. To add also, prior to our arrival while we were making our food plans, I asked the owner if there was a crockpot and she said no. However, the next day she messaged me and said she had ordered one and it would be there for us to use.
