Rooms were cold, we couldn’t control heat. Bathrooms were small, got charged double fees once by Expedia then the hotel. It was not worth the money you spent on the room.

ILLEGAL Property - NO HEAT!!! When I arrived and got to my cold room, I tried to turn on the heat on the thermostat. When I called the front desk, I was told “the boiler is being fixed.” Ummmm. Next day I was told “we only have AC.” In Boston??? Staff brought a cheap electric portable heater. It is Illegal to rent a room or property in Boston with only a space heater for heat. Space heaters are a terrible FIRE HAZARD. and unsafe to leave on unwatched/when asleep. This was not just my room. The hotel is heating every room with space heaters. ILLEGAL: surprise “resort FEE.” I learned about the fee in an e-mail from the hotel the day before arriving. In CA all fees must be listed as 1 price up front just to prevent these cons. Note: I booked in CA. Note: this is no “resort.” It’s a musty old youth hostile style hotel with Christmas lights in the lobby and a colorful van out front. UGLY: Musty smell, worn carpet, broken or damaged items including shattered fractures across the top of the toilet tank top, my bathroom door didn’t slide fully shut, the shower curtain was broken in 2 places - on purpose - to keep curtain in place. GOOD: Location. Available when nothing else was on a busy weekend. AMAZING: Incredible staff. It took courage to give an honest hotel review because the staff is so kind.

I have nothing but praise for the people employed at Studio Allston. They were a five star crew. The property is neat. Unfortunately the experience as a whole was extremely difficult to call good. We lost power six times in two nights. I only complained about it three times and each time it was just a “okay no problem we will send someone up”…cool. After the second time I expected an explanation, and yes after the third you could say I expected a response or effort in making my astronomically expensive two nights a little easier to swallow. Nothing. Except and additional $100 charge after check out. I’m pretty curious about this charge but if I were to call I don’t think either of us would have an ennoble conversation so I’m likely going to avoid that all together and cut my losses. Never again. Unfortunately I don’t foresee this spot lasting long.

The pictures really amp up the appeal, but they’re fairly average rooms with different art work. There was a parking lot light directly outside of the window, so even with the curtains closed, it was very bright in the room. The room stank and the smell did not go away. There was an attempt to mask the scent with another off putting artificial vanilla smell. Additionally paying to park was also alittle of a let down given the price of the rooms

Not worth the money
This place is sooooooo overpriced for what you get. $500 a night plus an extra $100 for your dog and a fee for parking. Then they wanted an extra $50 for late checkout. I get it you’re in a city and things are pricy but it’s the bare minimum of a hotel. The breakfast was laughable. A tray of scrambled egg, some toast and bagels, juice and coffee - that was it. Everything was clean that’s the best I can say
