Overall, a bummer for a Malmaison

Have stayed at a few Malmaison's and they are usually really cool and high amenity. Unfortunately this one is wierd - I'm not sure if this marina building was created to be used as a hotel or it it was a creative way to use existing space (which I'd applaud) but access is complicated and the hotel is just wonky. The facility is also quite tired - way more than it should be for the price, which is not discount. The rooms are fine but def on the small side. Upside, the front desk staff where quite courteous and helpful.

Overall, a nice stay but not value for money

Room ready nearly an hour after check-in time, with no drink or anything offered while we were forced to wait. Room was nice, but apart from the view, didn’t warrant the cost. Fluffy robes that were promised, weren’t at all fluffy and too small for the average person. Paint marks on the shelf in the bathroom. Meals were good value and the staff were lovely, but service was painfully slow for breakfast. Overall, we had a nice stay but not the service I would expect for four stars and the money paid.

Disappointing

I really like this hotel (Malmaison Brighton), but perhaps my last visit gave me a better impression than this occasion. Positives - Excellent location by the Marina and the surrounding area and amenities (there's a lot to do and see locally) - Well connected (regular buses) to the city centre - Free parking in the multi-storey car park Negatives - Room was tight (kept on knocking into the corner pillars of the bed) - Breakfast (before 8am) is poor (dry croissants, a few yoghurts and fruit). Coffee in the room in the room isn't great. I remember breakfast from my last visit a highlight, so this was a big negative on this occasion - Staff seemed uninterested - I find this troubling in this industry All in all, not sure I would go back based on this experience and price, which is a great shame. Hoping Malmaison Brighton get their act together

Nice hotel.

Nice room. Nice welcome. Comfortable and clean. Very easy to operate shower - better than most hotels. Free parking in multi storey next door. Only criticism as with most hotels, the room lighting is a bit poor for working or reading. I would stay here again.

It's got all that's good about a mal mason by the sea. Restaurant is good and staff are nice. Don't scrimp and pay the extra few quid for a sea view or you may as well be in the lanes.

The hotel staff were, i general, helpful. The food was very good. The problems were, the room smelled bad - mouldy, musky. In addition, service in the bar/grill was appalling. We ate there on New Years Eve and although our reservation was 7pm, it was slow to order, my partner got his starter around 8pm and our main courses at 8:45pm as i was just about to leave. Drinks were very slow to arrive and considering the restaurant was only half full, there is no excuse. The meal and drinks cost in excess of £170 which was appalling and the room was very costly. I would never visit this hotel again and would advise the public to also avoid it.

The staff was very nice and attentive to our needs, I was in a wheelchair and could only walk very short distances, we asked for a shower mat and stool which were there on arrival waiting for us, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant and was served by Sylvester who was absolutely outstanding with his recommendations and drinks to have,breakfasts was first class.
