Ive stayed at the Angel a few times over the years and always had a lovely time well this time i did not ,firstly although it was a last minute booking and at a discounted rate the lifts were not working and we were put on the third floor ,we were offered help with out bags but that was declined ,it was up 3 floors and a suspect about a 1/4 mile to the room ,nothing on the website to state the lifts wete out of action. Secondly our room was good decor wise but the bathroom had a non working vent and it was full off peeling paint and mold ,not a good impression regardless of cost ,the hotel is past its sell by date i think and the staff who were all helpfull but do not make up for mouldy rooms ,310 was the room if you would like to deal with it

I booked out 2 rooms these where premium rooms , however you can not call a room premium because it has a sofa init , the room was outdated the carpets need cleaning or new ones added . Are rooms where on the 3rd floor and this was a nightmare as there was no lift it was still out of order and after 3 months I suggest head office deal with NOW and not leave it any longer . For a building dating back to the Victorian times it's a shame the owners don't care about a peace of history ,this hotel could do amazing if they spend the money on the property. It's in a prime location opposite the castle . The room even with both windows wide open was very warm and made sleeping very hard I don't care about the noise levels outside the hotel that didn't bother me . The decor in the rooms was very outdated I have seen better in a charity shop probably time to chuck that and keep up with the times . Staff where amazing and cleaners where very friendly it's a shame they treated like trash by the company that owns it they clearly do not care about there employees and this needs to be looked into the staff are the heart and soul of this place and if they walk out the hotel will not work it's as simple as that I feel sorry for all the staff members who have to deal with such a company that shows zero loyalty to the staff . If it was not for them all last night 7th of December I would have packed my bags and me my wife and kids would have booked else where . We will never come back .

Matress was old, terrible draught through windows, no hot water in the morning, terrible signal on tv for most chanels. Tiles broken in bathroom. It’s just an old hotel in need of serious renovation. Room clean and staff polite and helpful. Feel for the staff- as the issues are beyond their control.

Great time at this hotel. Very friendly staff……clean hotel. Great location, it’s a tad older generation of hotels it it’s still plenty of charm. Great value…..sadly the lift wasn’t working. But my bags were brought to my room.
