Exceeded my expectations!

Even though from the outside, the building looks a bit rough, it is really nice inside! Would book myself again into The Royal without any hesitation should the need arise. Very good quality breakfast, nice rooms. Recommended!

Great value hotel

Very central location close to shops and train station. Great value given size of the room and price of the breakfast. Enjoyed having choice of a bath and a shower plus being able to follow easy controls on air conditioning. Unfortunately the bed was not the most comfortable, the tea urn didn't ever get hot enough to make quality tea- and there were a lot of stairs!

A bit hit and miss, staff were super friendly but hotel is very dated, didn't opt for breakfast but looked like something out of Captain Scott's era himself, room was very comfortable, albeit difficult to get the temperature down via the Aircon, bathroom was fine, everything worked, although there was a dubious stain on one of the bed throws but I assumed positive intent on this occasion.
