We loved staying at the Asonborough! This was the perfect hotel! It was beautifully remodeled, perfect walking distance to shopping, restaurants and like 2 minute to Kings Street! We will for sure be staying here again when we visit Charleston in the future.

Property was marketed as recently remodeled. Property was actually being remodeled. Noisy during the morning and closed off in areas that made it inconvenient for navigating the hotel.

Tough First Impression
Unfortunately this stay just started off on the wrong first impression and it will be the reason I don’t stay here again. I walked into a lobby that was fully disassembled, with large furniture stacked in a corner, covered by tarps and tape. I honestly thought I walked in the wrong place by this condition. When I got to the check-in desk, they told me the floors were being replaced. I would have loved to see a sign on the front door preparing me for what I walked into (“pardon our appearance”). When I opened the door to my first room, it was filled with construction supplies. I was given a new room, and it had a strong scent when I walked in - smelled similar to natural gas. I spoke with a guy who was doing the construction on site and he reassured me there were no gas lines running into this building. He said the smell was from the age of the building. I still stayed the night and the room accommodations were nice enough. The room was much bigger than what is typical in the other boutique hotels in Charleston. I was really disappointed by how my trip started. For the rate this hotel is charging, I had higher expectations and will pay that price elsewhere on my future visits. I read the responses from The Ansonborough staff on other reviews saying they don’t want their guests to know the building is under construction but that was literally impossible on my stay, given the state of the lobby.

Wow. This one blew us away. Maybe it was because we were stuck on a cruise ship for 5 days but the standard double queen room I booked was the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in, with high ceilings, a dining area, wet bar and beautiful bathroom and a huge tv. I couldn't believe the room compared to the great rate I got. We got there early after we got off the cruise ship and were so tired that I only wanted to park in their lot b/c I knew check in was much later. But to my surprise they got our room ready and invited us to have breakfast. I haven't never been to a hotel that would welcome us in to rest, eat and then give us our room so early. We were so thankful that we could lay down for a few hours before exploring the city. The Harris Teeter grocery was right next door and so convenient. It's also in a good walking distance from all the things you want to see! I would love to stay here the next time we are in town!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Inn. Renny, the restaurant and bar manager, was personable, experienced and helpful with recommendations. Our room was comfortable and spacious. However the bath towels were half sized and we only had two provided. There was no room service that restocked the coffee pods or bathroom amenities.

Christopher checked us in upon arrival and he was very friendly. He made us feel very welcome and gave us food recommendations. The room was super spacious and clean. The property was very quiet. The quietest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. We had complimentary wine and cheese daily. The inn is walkable to pretty much anything downtown. 10/10 recommend. It was worth the price. So glad I booked this hotel. We will definitely stay here again next visit to Charleston. I wish I had booked this property other visits!
