The Riu Chicago Plaza Hotel was amazing and my husband and I had a beautiful experience staying a couple days during Valentine’s Day weekend. We have previously stayed and the Riu in Cabo and both properties are stunning. The Chicago property sits directly across the street from Garrett’s Popcorn which is a must go to staple in Chicago. I do love Downtown Detroit , but Chicago is my second favorite.

Great Hotel must stay.

The staff is fantastic. Rebecca is professional and extremely courteous. Rooms are clean great views. Will stay here any time I’m in Chicago

Clean, but not go great sleeping

Hotel Riu was clean and nice overall, but sleeping was very uncomfortable. As other guests have mentioned, the thermostat won't go below a specific degree - that seems correct. It was warm and stuffy all night, and the bed/pillows were a major letdown. The breakfast was excellent, and everyone was quite nice and helpful. For the price, it was fine. But it left us hoping for a little more.

New and great!

Brand new hotel, great location, friendly staff, and super clean. My only minor complaint was the mattress was really stiff and uncomfortable; however, that could be related to how new they are. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation!

Just ok

Property describes itself as very upscale. It was a nice hotel with a great buffet breakfast. I thought the people working there were not the friendliest and the lobby/bar inviting to hang out. I read about the rooftop bar - that wasn't open when we came. There are so many nice hotels with a similar price point, I think I’d rather stay where people r actually glad to see us.
