About this property
Po' del Vento 1 Unique experience between Tuscany and Umbria, Pool Pet Friendly!
Po' del Vento 1 – A Beautiful Retreat Between Umbria and Tuscany
Located between Umbria and Tuscany, and just 18 km from the motorway, Po' del Vento 1 offers a tranquil escape perched on a hill overlooking the stunning Valdichiana. This idyllic property sits between Acquapendente in Lazio, Città della Pieve in Umbria, and Cortona in Tuscany, with sweeping views over Lake Trasimeno in Umbria and Lake Chiusi in Tuscany. The estate spans 310 hectares of olive groves and woods, with picturesque views of surrounding villages and hills, including Montepulciano, Chiusi, and Cortona. Just a few minutes away, you’ll find the charming villages of Paciano and Moiano.
A Traditional Tuscan Home
This charming late 19th-century hunting lodge is built from local stone and wood, offering a simple yet comfortable atmosphere. The house is equipped with rustic furnishings, providing an authentic Tuscan experience.
Po' del Vento 1 can accommodate 8-9 guests. Located on the first floor, access is via 11 steps leading to a covered loggia. From here, you enter the dining room, which features a large pouf sofa and a fireplace. A corridor leads to the kitchen with a breakfast table and four bedrooms, including two doubles, one twin (or double with a second single bed), and one more double with breathtaking views of the valley. There are also two small bathrooms, each with a shower. A large 60 m² partially covered terrace provides ample space for outdoor dining and relaxation.
Outdoor Amenities
The house is surrounded by plenty of outdoor spaces, including a fenced and heated swimming pool, just a short walk from the house. For entertainment, there’s a table football, table tennis, and a children's playground with swings, a slide, a tunnel, a sandpit, and a playhouse. The heated hot tub for 6 people, bocce court, and children's playground are located 400 meters away. Additionally, there’s a fitness trail in the forest, just 300 meters from the house, featuring 11 pieces of equipment for over 20 exercises along its 1 km length. A nearby fishing pond (1.5 km away) and another picnic spot with a table for 8 (700 meters away) complete the list of amenities.
A Pleasant Microclimate
The estate benefits from a mild microclimate, with cool breezes that bring summer temperatures down to 20–24°C at night, while winters are mild and fog-free. The property is equipped with air conditioning, independent heating, and fans for the milder seasons. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, and mosquito nets are provided to ensure a comfortable stay.
Wildlife and Nature
The estate is home to a variety of wildlife, including foxes, roe deer, hedgehogs, porcupines, wild boar, hares, and squirrels. In late spring and summer, you’ll be enchanted by fireflies, while robins, jays, hoopoes, greenfinches, and bee-eaters are frequent visitors. The surrounding countryside is rich in flowers, from wildflowers and roses in the spring to sunflowers and cyclamens in the summer. Autumn brings an abundance of mushrooms, and from late September to early November, the olive harvest season is a highlight.
At night, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking star-filled sky. On clear evenings, the International Space Station (ISS) is often visible to the naked eye.
Explore the Surroundings
The surrounding area is full of historical and cultural gems. Paciano, a fortified medieval village, is close to the Renaissance town of Panicale. Chiusi, the city of King Porsenna, offers Etruscan tombs and an underground city. Montepulciano is home to what Newsweek calls the most beautiful wine cellar in the world, and Cortona, made famous by "Under the Tuscan Sun," boasts extraordinary museums and archaeological sites, including the oldest lamp in the world (4th century B.C.).
The region also offers stunning lakes, like Castiglione del Lago on Lake Trasimeno, which features a fortress built by Frederick II, accessible through the city walls. In addition, there’s a weekly open-air market and a spectacular Christmas display with a giant tree of lights on the lake. For panoramic views, visit Isola Maggiore, accessible by ferry.
Nearby, Sarteano recently uncovered a new Etruscan tomb, while Cetona offers prehistoric caves, and San Casciano and Bagni San Filippo are known for their natural hot springs. Chianciano is renowned for its spa, and Perugia, with its secret Rocca Paolina, is a must-see.
If you have more than a week to explore, don’t miss the Marmore waterfalls, Europe’s highest, or the Frasassi caves, which are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. For a unique experience, take a day trip to Arezzo and Siena, both known for their monthly antiques markets, or visit Assisi, with its two iconic churches dedicated to St. Francis.
