The Beach House-Congo NSW

Congo is a small beach side village 8 kms or 10 minutes drive from Moruya, 20 minutes from Batemans Bay, 2 hours from Canberra, and 3.5 hours from the Sutherland shire, south of Sydney.

The Moruya township located next to the Moruya river has facilities such as two supermarkets, a hospital, a golf and bowling club, a council operated swimming pool, several restaurants, 4 pubs, a theatre, and a wide variety of retail shops.

Congo is well known for its fishing and surfing. The white sandy beach runs for approx.800 metres. Montague Island can be seen south/east from the beach.
Congo is surrounded by National Park on 3 sides and the Pacific Ocean on the other. It has a small camping ground, a creek, small children's playground.

Golf can be enjoyed at Moruya (18 holes), and Tuross Heads (9 holes), whilst Narooma and Catalina (Batemans Bay) are quality standard and 30 minutes away.

Bushwalking / mountain biking can be enjoyed around Congo, whilst 4 wheel driving is closeby aroung the Great Dividing Range west of Moruya.

The small town Mogo just 15 minutes away has a wide range of craft shops, plus the Mogo Zoo.

The beach house is of full brick construction, with refurbished kitchen, bathroom and lounge room. It is set on a large 4200 square metre block (100m x 50m)
backing onto a waterfront reserve with water glimpes both east and northwards. Access to the beach by walking is only 5 minutes away, either to the northern or southern end of Congo beach.

Accommodation consists of 3 bedrooms, (3rd bedroom has a petition to the sunroom), bathroom, kitchen, lounge, dining room, laundry.

The lounge room has a floating timber floor, a wood fireplace or gas heater, and the room enters out onto the north facing large deck 14m x 4.5m

Facilities include a smart TV (includes Netflix, Youtube etc) free Wi Fi, DVD player, CD player, washing machine, clothes dryer, full kitchen facilities including microwave oven, gas stove and large fridge. The bedding consists of 1 x queen size bed, and 4 single beds, and includes mattress covers, dooners and pillows.
Please note bed linen and bath towels are not provided.

The tasteful lounge furniture seats 5, the sunroom has 2 lounges that seat 4, and the timber dining setting sits 6.

Older style beach house
Positive aspects about our stay were - Clean ,good kitchen ,comfortable beds, hot water , new TV in lounge room ,large modern family size BBQ :new floorboards in lounge/ living area / kitchen :& excellent Wi Fi & iPhone coverage . The large bush block would appeal to families with children age 4 upwards to play sporting activities & for dog/dogs to run around chasing a ball .The area is quiet— a bonus during holiday times .although you cannot see the ocean ,the distant sound of the surf is relaxing Beach access down the 40 stairs is very difficult for a family Negatives aspects —It is an older style house ,poorly maintained especially ALL sliding windows ,fly screens ,venetian blinds ,curtains &,Sliding doors .Outdoor cobwebs everywhere around windows & doors need attention between visitors Directions from Stayz down Moruya Heads rd to Congo Rd were out of date!Thankfully John sent us a text the day prior with the correct turnoff @ Bingi Rd off the Princes Highway

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Congo. The house was very comfortable and the deck was great.
Great communication with the owner. There was an echidna in the yard when we arrived and lots of wallabies and kangaroos around the area. Good place for pets, with a dog friendly yard and beach. Treat your pets for ticks before you go as there are lots there this year. Nice bush walking just up the road and a lovely river for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding. The house had everything that we needed and we loved the fireplace on cool nights.

Great house in a great location
Great communication from the owner with very good directions to the property. We enjoyed our stay & Congo is a lovely village close to the national park with bushwalking tracks & the house is in a perfect location within walking distance to the beach. In my opinion, the yard is not suitable for dogs.

Lovely Christmas at Congo
I love this place. The house is easy to live in for 3 or 4 adults. The owner is also easy to communicate with - he's happy to troubleshoot any issues you might have with the house. The surroundings are simply gorgeous - Congo is a sleepy hollow full of natural wonders.

Congo Beach House is clean, neat, quiet, and very spacious. Close to lovely walks, easy drive to other (including dog friendly) beaches, and Moruya. Great communication with the owner and very detailed instructions on everything you need to know about the house and how to get there, and nearby beach walks. We loved it so much that we stayed another night. Our dog (who is used to living on 100 acres) loved the Congo Beach House too! Definitely recommend for anything from individuals up to small groups.

Peaceful home near the beach
Comfortable and spacious house, on a large block close to the beach. The house has everything you need, although there were a few things that need updating, such as torn flyscreens. We also couldn't find any BBQ tools. We love the area, and overall we had a really great relaxing holiday, and excellent communication with the owner.

A wonderful week
We had a really great holiday in the Congo Beach House. It is a fantastic spot, very close to the beach and the forest. The house was comfortable for us (3 adults and 2 dogs) - quite spacious and everything works well. Relaxed and homey, rather than upmarket, the house has great airflow that keeps it cool in summer. The big verandah is a real plus, perfect for lazy meals and hanging out. If the fences were fixed it would feel safer for the dogs, but they had a wonderful week too with lots of swimming and playing on the 24hr off leash beach which is right there.
