Having stayed here many times before I was shocked to have such an average experience. For me St. Helens has become a three star hotel and is not the five star it once was. No door man on arrival. When I went to the room I notice lots of dust mites crawling on granite tops. Tv shelf dusty and shower curtain mouldy. Family room was not the same size as last year. The beds were small doubles and with wriggling children a bigger bed would have been welcomed. Breakfast staff kind and polite. Unfortunately we had a terrible dinner experience. 2 gluten free orders and a diary free order. Gluten free arrived with battered onions on top. When sent back it came back out with onions scrapped off. My food was contaminated. No sides arrived with main even though ordered and requested 3 times….daughters diary free burger came loaded with cheese and when sent back again cheese was scraped off. Although manger didn’t charge for meal it left me very cross that in 2022 allergies and intolerances disregarded. Such a Shame as it truly is a stunning location and holds many discus memories for us.

Couldn't get into the bar even though we had a table booked! Hotel decided to give our table to someone else and tell us to use room service, seriously! Breakfast was really good.

Beautiful hotel, lovely restaurant, food was excellent . Staff were so friendly and accommodating and you could see that they loved working there . There was a great sense of camaraderie amongst themThe outdoor dining and garden area is truly beautiful

Cleanliness, hotel staff and hotel location. Also charge was reasonable compared to similar standard hotels in Dublin.

The hotel was fantastic, the people working there, too. What was really disturbing were the air conditions we heard from other rooms. It must be an old system. And we had bad luck, our room neighbours let them work all nights long. An they are really noisy. We don't understand who needs such an air condition in Ireland? That was the only thing that was not good for us. But being able to sleep is important, isn't it. Kind regards, N. & M. Uebelhart

Pros Very pleasant, helpful staff throughout the hotel. Quick check in and check out. Excellent breakfast. Cons TV connection was poor. Programmes kept stopping mid way. Heating/air con was noisy.
