The shining star of the hotel is the lobby and the wonderful spa. Check-in was mediocre. Efficient, but completely lacked a warm welcome. I had a very simple special request when booking and it was ignored. Very disappointing. Hotel/romm was clean, beds comfy. I agree with other reviewers regarding flat pillows (bring your own!). The spa was excellent and I will definitely be back! Excellent atmosphere and customer service. It completely made up for our lackluster hotel experience. Kudos to the entire spa team!

Unprotected parking. Nothing untoward happened. I had a motorcycle was afraid of stragglers walking around at all time of day or night behind the hotel. Some gates for cars parked would have been helpful

Executive room with two Quinn beds was very small. Coffee was undrinkable. TV list printed in the room shows many channels that are not available (foodTV, HGTV, USA, etc).

The Julien is simply a lovely hotel. We spent 2 days there for a wedding celebration. The hotel was also hosting another wedding and several other special events, but you never would have realized it. Outstanding hotel staff and Caroline's restaurant offers great service and food. We will stay there again when we're in the Dubuque area.
