Just needed a one night stay after a golf trip and flying out early the next morning. There is a train to the airport a couple blocks away, the hotel is well priced, and has nice style. The shower had very modern hardware and good water pressure, and after the fire alarm situation, I was able to have a good night's sleep.
Room was great, no a/c but we traveled in the fall so it was fine. No elevator so if you have issues with stairs request a main level room. The location was great, good food choices close by and a wonderful bakery around the corner. Very close to tram and bus stops but we found Uber work best for us. Very reasonable prices to old town and new town.
Lovely little hotel with lots of charm. The room was a bit older but all the amenities were met. The staff is super friendly and kind. The breakfast options are endless and there is an in house bar, with cocktails wine and beer. The decor and ambience is sooo cute and vintage. Very easy to bars and restaurants. Easy access to Ubers and taxis. The city center is within walking distance. You won’t regret your stay here… I fell in love with Scotland and this hotel was a huge reason why.
Great position for transport and shopping. Walking distance to castle for those comfortable with walking or tram stops nearby.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful..had all I needed. Wouldn't hesitate to choose this hotel on another visit.
Suited our needs; clean, very quiet; close to tram.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
First, the pros: the Haymarket is incredibly conveniently located with lots of dining and drinking options, convenience retail, and tram and bus stops across or around the street. The staff was generally friendly and attentive to issues, like getting me a space heater and changing a burned out light bulb. The neighborhood and buildings are beautifully preserved Victorian era…which brings me to my only small cons: these are old buildings that can get very chilly and have serious issues with heating water. I had to take freezing cold showers on several mornings; when I brought it to the staff’s attention I was basically told it was just something I’d have to deal with and to try and shower at non-peak use hours. Rooms are also on the small side but I’m small so that was fine. I would stay here again if they upgrade the water heaters.
It was walkable to major attractions. We could take the train from Haymarket station which was close to the hotel and there were lots of cafes near by. The staff was exceptional. Thank you for all your help! They truly helped us a lot.
Very nice hotel. Beds could be upgraded and it would be nice if somewhere in the description they asked about special needs (age). Getting to the top floor with my mom and her luggage was a challenge. In the future I will request a lower floor. Other than that it was very good.
We liked the location of the hotel. It is quaint, near restaurants and the old town is close enough to walk to. The staff was very nice, I held back one star because the bed was not very comfortable.
Haymarket is a good area to stay . Convenient for transport & restaurants .
The Haymarket Hotel is in a quiet sidestreet .
Being an older building there are stairs no lift & the beds were not very comfortable . However bathroom facilities& coffee tea making was good & staff very friendly helpful & pleasant .
The room was a nice size and comfortable. It was clean except for the window which was covered in mold. It was in a basement area, but had a nice view out the back of the room. Would stay there again, but would want a room on an upper floor.
Staying at the Haymarket is great for a location close to central Edinburgh. Outside of that, it's not much to write about. Our room was in the basement and the bed was unbearably hard. Not to worry since we didn't sleep much due to the multiple false fire alarms.
One last mention, don't have a rental car and stay here. You'll park nearly a mile away. It's best to return the car and use the easy to use light take just down the street.
We arrived to a worn out and not fully clean place after our train journey. Our room was ready an hour early, which pleased us, but the walk up two floors of steep stairs with two pieces of luggage each was difficult. We found a vacuum nearly blocking our door and a dinged up appearance to the potentially charming but small room. The upper wall showed signs of a leak and the small window looked out to a court...with littered and unkept gardens.
On trying to plug in phones for charging, the side power outlet proved to be shorted out. We asked about seeing another room; we were told it was not possible. At night, the tall stair hall proved to be loud with neighbors waking us in the early AM. It is fortunate we only booked two nights and the city is such a delight.

No lifts/elevators and many stairs to climb. This is not an ideal hotel for seniors. There is no in-room refrigerator.
