The heart of Florence
The location of this property was perfectly situated in the Old Town Florence so close to the Pont Vecchio. We were able to walk easily to the Duomo and Uffizi Gallery. We found incredible restaurants around every corner. The hotel is a former private residence and has so much charm. The breakfast was excellent. We visited the rooftop bar only once, the view was so-so. I would love to return some day, Florence has captured my heart.

The hotel front a very busy street just away from the Ponte Vecchio but our room overlooked an internal piazza and looked right up to the Boboli Gardens which created a quite and peaceful retreat from our busy days. Being "across" the river from Florence worked out wonderfully. Short walk across the Ponte Vecchio was a delightful walk back in time and relaxing in nature. Very walkable to all the attractions and slightly away from the crowds.

Great location, extremely friendly staff, but for the price it was a bit of a let down. We could hear people walking (stomping), talking etc at all hours as the walls and floors are extremely thin. With some updates, this property could be lovely. But most of all, it is unacceptable in this day and age to claim to have a hair dryer on property and only be supplied with a small, wall adjoining device that is completely insufficient if you actually have hair and need a blow dryer. For this, I can't rate above a 3 and we ended up leaving a day early despite inability to obtain a refund.

We arrived at the facility at 2pm and they offered for us to store our luggage which was very kind as our room wouldn’t be ready until 3pm. When we returned, it was very apparent that the room was nothing like any of the photos of the room I paid for. We navigated, with much difficulty the maze of stairs, doors and hallways back to the front desk and kindly asked them if there was a mix up, they said no, this was the Superior Double Bed with a garden view and that there was nothing they could do because they were completely booked. Upon returning to the listing on Expedia I found it was obvious that the room they gave me was the Economy Double Room with a Garden View, a room half the cost of what I paid. The hallways smelled like sewer every time we walked back to our room and the room itself was so empty and dark, it felt ominous. The staff was always kind and helpful, so I feel bad giving them a bad review, but the room was so awful, if I had known there was a possibility of getting a room like that, I never would have stayed there. It was by far the worst place we stayed in Italy. I’m sure the other rooms are nicer. In fact the one next to us was bright and airy and had a window 3 times the size of ours, and the ones in the listing that I paid for were very nice as well, but you do run the risk of getting stuck with a room like we had at this hotel.

We were only stayed for one night, but upon arrival the front desk was very friendly and helpful. They helped us with our luggage to the room (note to future guests, there are quite a few stairs to the rooms). Once in our room it was spacious with a comfortable bed and great view to the garden! We wish we were staying for more nights as this place was in a great location and walkability to pointe vecchio and lots of great shops and restaurants!
