Tired of binge watching historic series on Netflix? Love Game of Thrones, The Medicis, Reign, or are just a huge history buff wanting to have the real life experience? Get off the couch and explore Castello Di Gabiano in the Piedmont region of Italy. This majestic structure sits proudly as the crown jewel atop a mountain, today as she has for centuries, dating back to the year 1000. What history may have forgotten, she has not. Drenched in old world charm Castello Di Gabiano is enchanting with a manicured labyrinth garden, private pool and grounds, ivy spilling over ancient brick walls and picturesque views of endless vineyards and gentle valleys below. Several buildings have been restored to offer rustic yet lovely apartments and suites. The staff are extremely gracious, friendly and accommodating. The wines Gabiano produces are deliciously crafted. An assortment of reds, whites and flavorful blends are available. They also produce a delicious prosecco. With an extensive wine menu there is surly something for every palette making a wine tasting worthwhile. During our stay a portion of the grounds were under renovation. We were informed the facility will soon include the addition of a second pool with spa amenities such as massage and other luxury services offering a more relaxing, retreat style experience. Knights in shining armor and beautiful maidens alike will enjoy experiencing the enchanting old world of yesteryear at Castello Di Gabiano in the piedmont region.

Misleading pictures
Contrary to what some pictures might show, the rooms are not in the castle but in an annexe which was a big disappointment to us as we chose between this hotel and another one where the rooms indeed are located in the main building. You are not even allowed to access the castle as a guest. Furthermore, our room had an extremely strange layout that offered little to no privacy. And, despite being the only people in the hotel for the better part of our second day, the staff decided to do some non-urgent maintenance in our room during the few hours of the day that we actually spent in our room to plan for the remainder of our trip. On a positive note, the staff was very kind and helpful throughout our stay.

Beautiful romantic rooms. There really wasn't much to exploring the grounds. The on site restaurant is nice, but I thought the inexpensive ingredients elevated to gourmet standards just didn't work for me.

Summer escape
Beautiful historic property atop a hill surrounded by countryside. Room had everything required for our stay, and the excellent on-site restaurant means that you don't even need to drive for dinner!

The room was a bit dark and noisy especially in the mornings and at night. Breakfast and overall service was superb. Property is beautiful We used the hotel as our base to go around the Piedmont region and it was really convenient

Relaxing Rural Alessandria Castle
Gorgeous grounds, wonderfully quiet, and service is considerate however not there is no bar and no jacuzzi. Castello is in a very rural area that is closed many normal American hours so you must bring your own drink, snacks, entertainment, or drive 20+ minutes to a larger town. It is perfect for folks who want peace and quiet, very relaxing!

Boutique hotel très charmant et authentique. Personnel a l'écoute et réactive, accueille chaleureux. Propriété magnétique avec des jardins et nature sublimes pour des promenades. Possibilité de faire une dégustation de vin, je recommande vivement.

Friendly and helpful staff. Kitchenette only really suitable for breakfast. Pool area very nice but there are lots and lots of mosquitos in an around the hotel. Ok but 3 nights was enough due to mosquitos.

De ligging is uniek. Ook het restaurant was prima en in een heel mooi kader. Het ontbijt was niet echt uitgebreid. Wat we missen is een plaats waar je rustig kan zitten en iets drinken: een bar met terras en zicht. Dan zou een een uitzonderlijke verblijfplaats zijn!

Schön aber mit Vorsicht
Das Zimmer war leider nicht sauber und es fanden sich unangenehme Mitbewohner die selbst entfernt werden mussten. Nettes Hotel, schön fotografiert aber sehr abgelegen. Bei Anreise war es eiskalt im Zimmer und das Heizen hat mehrere Stunden gedauert.
