We live In Montreal and were looking for a little “green” time. These were the criteria for our getaway:
First: peace and quiet: check!
The property had that and then some. Ralph’s chalet is set about 650 feet from the road, down a steep
hill. No noise whatsoever.
Second: I fly fish, so a wading river was a must….check!
Third fire pit: when you live in the city, all escapes to the countryside need a place to sit around, warm
your bones, sip some tequila, and have some “face-to-face” …. check! check!
EXTRA: what could be better than a wood burning stove in the chalet …. (most rentals don’t have a
wood stove or fireplace inside due to insurance costs) …. seems Ralph trusts his clients. I just want to
add that a wood burning stove lit on a cool, damp fall morning…..OMG!!!
Fourth BBQ: Clean, with clean utensils and two tanks (so you don’t get stuck with half cooked steaks)
….check! check! And check!!!
The chalet itself was welcoming, warm, well appointed; felt more like a borrowed friend’s chalet than a
rental. We had no rain that week (YEAH US!!!) …but the covered porch would have been a perfect place
to sit and enjoy the day.
A few more mentions:
Two stacks of wood are supplied; one for the wood burning stove and the other for the fire pit. Ralph
was considerate enough to restock the pit pile because we city folk can’t get enough.
WiFi: very fast and issue free.
Town of Lowville (a few miles down the road): Lovely, has all the amenities (excellent grocery stores,
restaurants, l
